The way this relates to the Truman Doctrine is because just like Bruno Mars says he'll be there quickly the U.S. was there quickly when a democratic nation was under threat to communism influence. This relates to Turkey and Greece, aided financially as well as military help under the Truman Doctrine. This connects well with the lyrics because the U.S. is helping its friends Turkey and Greece when they require help.

As said before represents the desire to seek better living conditions in Berlin after the Soviets cut around 2.5 Million civilians in the three western sectors of Berlin off from access to electricity, as well as food, coal, and other crucial supplies. Another lyric in this song is, "It seems such a waste of time If that's what it's all about". Now this can accurately represent the thoughts of Berlin civilians because what was the point in living in harsh living conditions under the control of the Soviet Union therefore seen as a waste of time, so they moved out and sought a better life.

The song that I linked to the CIA coupe in Guatemala was Pop Smoke's song Coupe, made in 2021. Although the meanings of the word coupe are different in the song and the event, my example is a play on words. And because coupe can refer to a coupe de ta, and the song is about aggression on someone. One lyric is "Point him out and I'm attacking" This relates because the U.S. pointed out a potential threat to the United Fruit Companies' business, in this case, it was Guatemalan leader Arbenz.

The song I chose for the Yom Kippur War was HiiiPower by Kendrick Lamar in 2011. One lyric is, "I don't want no plastic nation". This can relate to the Arab states wanting significant territory so that they can be a stronger country and not a plastic one, where a plastic country can represent a weak one that can break easily.

The song I linked to the Berlin Wall falling is Happy Xmas by John Lennon made in 1971. The main chorus in this song goes "War is over", this relates to the Berlin wall falling

because this event marks the end of the Cold War. Thus stating the war is over. Another lyric is "Let's stop the fight". This also reinforces the idea of the end of a war telling people to stop fighting because the war is over.

The song I linked to the Warsaw Pact was Randy Newman's, You've Got a Friend in Me made in 1995. In the lyric, "You've got a friend in me". The significance was to counteract the previously made NATO agreement, the Soviet Union had to gain allies to become stronger. In this case, the other countries the Warsaw Pact had a friend in The Soviet Union, so they formed together. Another impactful lyric is "If you've got troubles, I've got 'em too". This can relate to when a communist country was in trouble, some other communist countries would make it their problem too, and help out. One example is from the Korean War where the communist part of North Korea was backed by Communist China.

The song I linked to the Cultural Revolution in China was Adele's Somone Like You made in 2011. One lyric that relates to the Cultural Revolution is "Don't forget me, " I begged". This can correlate to China getting rid of old traditions and forgetting about them. So this lyric could be the personification of old Chinese traditions saying don't leave me behind. Another lyric is "Only yesterday was the time of our lives". This could represent how in the past and with their old traditions China used to be a thriving and powerful civilization with low problems.

The song that I linked the the Cuban Missile Crisis is Threat by Jay Z made in 2003. When the U.S. found out about missiles in Cuba it imposed a threat on Americans. One lyric is, "I'll send them boys at ya", which relates to the Cuban missile crisis because at the end of the event they agreed to not have a missile war if the U.S. did not invade Cuba which is like the president sending his boys to Cuba. Another lyric is "I make 'em wait for you 'til five in the morning". This reinforces the idea that if Cuba had kept the missiles the U.S. would not let them get away with it and wouldn't stop until they invaded Cuba or started a nuclear war.

The song I picked for the Suez Crisis is Power by Kanye West made in 2010. One lyric that represents the Suez Crisis is, "I'm fighting for custody, With these responsibilities they entrusted me". This relates because the Suez Crisis can pretty much be seen as a custody battle for control over the Suez Canal. In this case, it was originally controlled by Britain and France and then Ireael invaded to take over the canal.
