I think that he is introverted because he went days without saying anything to people. “He’d passed another morning not having said a word to anyone.” (143). Puzzles are things that introverted people do because it is just time with yourself. It also relates to the monster that he created in his mind because he is literally creating a creature in this puzzle. The puzzle also reminds me of Jim Kay’s drawings of the monsters because of the branches coming out of the back of its head. This is because he is from Britain and it is a fairly encaptivating show. This is important because Conor wants/needs something to distract him from his mum and the monster and make him think about something else. Which relates to this song because one of the lyrics is you “were my oxygen but you’re gone, gone, gone.” When you no longer have oxygen or when you’re holding your breath you are in pain and long for that air which you need to survive, which is how Conor feels with his mum.

I think that this is something Connor would listen to/relate to because it talks about people leaving his life and obviously, a monster. One of the lyrics is, “One after another, they always come and go,” which I think is something Conor can truly relate to because his dad left and went to America and made a new family, his mum is dying and he no longer has any friendship connections such as the on with Lily. “He walked away from her fast, leaving her behind.”(understanding). In this chapter, Lily catches up with Conor to apologize but he leaves her behind him and moves on. “..., ever since forever, it felt like, the nightmare had been there, stalking him, surrounding him, cutting him off, making him alone.”(173). A dog or cat or animal would be too much because he wouldn’t be home enough to take good care of it, but a plant would do just the trick. I chose a Venus fly trap because it is till alive and he can watch it and feed it, but it doesn’t need as much attention and care. I believe that since all of the treatments they were trying on her weren’t working, he would research cures and ask the doctors if they work. I think this because Conor is very upset about his mum being sick because if many reasons. It is not only affecting her and their family, it’s also affecting Conor’s social life and I think he would prefer for her to heal that to let go. I think Conor would like to do this because he has had a tramatic experience with cancer of which doesn’t have a cure. Therefore I think Conor would have a determination and interest in finding a cure to the issue.
