Why Ireland?

I chose to immigrate to Ireland for many reasons. The first reason is because of my heritage, both my mom and dad come from Irish Descent. Another reason is that although the US and Ireland speak different languages, they are not that different, so I do not think it would be hard for me to pick up. I also chose to immigrate to Ireland because of how beautiful it is. I love all the green, and the cliffs along the sea. I like how community and family are very important to Irish culture. I also like how Christianity is the main religion of Ireland, so I would fit in. As far as for a job Ireland is known for being a tech hub in Dublin, so I would move their to get a job in Tech. For lifestyle, Ireland has a lot of social life with pubs, and they are know to have some really nice golf courses. Overall, these are all key reasons for why I would want to move to Ireland.

How To Immigrate

There are many ways you can be able to move to Ireland from the US, with many different Visas. Like, Employment, student, retirement, family reunification visas, and Irish descent citizenship. Which is when, if your parent or grandparents come from Ireland you can apply for citizenship.

Retirement Visa

I will need to apply for my Visa either through Immigration Service Delivery or ISD in Ireland, or through an Irish Embassy in the US.

Next I will need to be able to show proof of sufficient financial resources and 50,000 pounds of an annual income. Along with a lump sum which is a large amount of money you have access to and health insurance.

Time and Money

This visa grants one year in Ireland, so I will have to renew it annually. It typically costs 60 pounds, and the process takes about 4 months.

How to Become a Citizen

For me I will need to become a citizen through the naturalization Process.

Requirements

I will need to live in the country for 5 years, with the last one being living there for 1 consecutive year. Also I will need to prove my intention on staying in Ireland after becoming a citizen. I will also need to be known as a good citizen with god character and nothing on my record. If all of this is true I can apply through ISD, with an application fee of 175 pounds.

After citizen approval

If my citizenship is approved I will need to attend a mandatory citizenship ceremony. Here I will need to take an oath of fidelity to the state. The certificate of naturalization fee is 950 pounds.

Work

Since I applied for a retirement Visa I will not be able to work the first five years when I have the visa. However if I was I would try to work in Tech in Dublin, because they are know for being a tech hub. Also, after I become a citizen after the five years, I will get a job at a golf course, a simple but fun job.

Cost of Living

The cost of living in Ireland is often very similar to the US, with big cities like New York or Dublin being very expensive, and suburbs and more rural areas being more affordable. I could find an apartment in a city or smaller house in a smaller city for about 1000-2000 pounds a month.

Healthcare and education

It is not hard to get healthcare in Ireland and it is affordable. Also as part of my visa I will already have to show I have access to healthcare. As far as education, I will not need education because I will already be educated.

Culture

I will face a slight language barrier when moving to Ireland because I only know English and they speak Gaelic. However, these languages are very similar and I don’t think it will be hard for me to learn. As far as culture, I grew up in an Irish household, so I do not think I will face many challenges.

How will I adapt

I will adapt to life by 1st, trying to learn their language. I will also try to go out as often as possible and do things so I can hopefully make friends. Hopefully I will eventually find my group and have safety, and they will help me adapt.
