I established a laboratory for research in comparative, or animal, psychology. I stated my experience in behaviourist psychology in my article “Psychology as a Behaviorist Views It.” This was my first work, I wrote this in 1913.

While teaching psychology at Johns Hopkins University, and acting as the department chair, I set up my own laboratory where I ran psychological experiments in the area of animal behavior. This is where I made my best work. For example I wrote Behavior: An Introduction to Comparative Psychology, in 1914. In this article, I explained my belief in the importance of using animal subjects to study reflexes activated by heredity.
