Your environment contributes greatly to you overall health. "Often, people don’t realize how much environmental factors can impact your health. In fact, they can affect you in multiple ways" (page 2). Indoor air quality is one example of an environmental factor that affects you health. If you have poor air quality with mold and dust present then people with asthma and allergies may have flare ups. Water quality, food quality, visuals, and sounds are other factors that can impact your health.

"Genes are made of DNA, and different patterns of code for the instructions for making things your body needs to function" (page 3). Your genes make up who you are, what you look like, and your health. "Heredity is the passing of genes from one generation to the next. You inherit your parents' genes. Heredity helps to make you the person you are today" (page 4). Depending on the genes your parents pas on to you will determine the genetic portion of your health, the rest is impacted by your environment.

"Access to comprehensive, quality health care services is important for the achievement of health equity and for increasing the quality of a healthy life for everyone" (page 5). Having access to healthcare will impact ones life greatly, and possibly even save it. While having access to healthcare is extremely important, not everyone does. Having access to healthcare will make a big difference to your life no matter who you are, but some are unable to receive routine or emergency medical care because it is unavailable, too costly, or they do not have insurance. When people don't have access that can lead to health complication that could have been prevented. Not having access to health care will not allow people to be as healthy as they could be.

Just because your brain is not fully developed and you are being peer pressured that is no excuse to make bad decisions. There are many things you can do to prepare yourself to make good decisions even when in bad situation. "A good decision is often one which has been really thought through . . . Sometimes decisions that turn out not to be so good are often made when young people (and adults) rush into making a decision" (page 9 -10). When faced with difficult choices, it is important that you take the time to consider the consequences of both options rather than making an impulsive decision.
