In 1901, John Spargo became one of the founding members of the Socialist party of America. He helped with women's suffrage and African American civil rights. He wanted to restrict immigration. John Spargo argued for a pro-war policy. But when he was told no from the conference of the Socialist Party of America, he resigned from his party. He became a Muckraker to help the devastating problems faced with child labor laws. He wanted to find a solution to stop child labor laws from being inhumane. All the employers wanted was profit. Employers did not care about their workers and in what conditions they were working in.
