"'You don't understand,' he said in despair. 'You cannot understand. I was saved miraculously...I wanted to return to Sighet to describe to you my death so that you might ready yourselves while there is still time...I wanted to come back to warn you. Only no one is listening to me.'"(Wiesel pg 7).

At this point of the chapter, Moishe was taken by the Hungarian police ,taken to the Polish territory ,Jews were forced to dig big treches and were killed by the Gestapos. Moishe was able to asked and went Sighet to try to warn Jews what happen to him but just got ignored by everyone.

This event shows how Jews didn't believe the Nazi threat was real because they were convinced that their town would remain safe and that the war could not affect them.

“'There are eighty of you in the car,'...'If anyone goes missing, you will all be shot, like dogs.'” (Wiesel pg 24)

At this point of the chapter,The Jews had to be in unbearable conditions. On the train ,there was excessive heat, over crowded, and no food or water.

In this moment, Eliezer becomes terrified because how chaotic the the train ride is with people screaming and fighting for space. Eliezer struggles to maintain hope and dignity.

''Not far from us, flames were leaping up from a ditch, gigantic flames. They were burning something. A lorry drew up at the pit and delivered its load-little children. Babies!

Around us, everyone was weeping. Someone began to recite the Kaddish. I do not know if it has ever happened before, in the long history of the Jews, that people have ever recited the prayer for the dead for themselves ....''(Wiesel pg 32)

At this point of the chapter,Eliezer sees people, including children and babies,being thrown into fires and burned alive when getting to the concentration camp.

At this point of the chapter,Elizer was wandering around and accidentally witnesses Idek having sexual intercourse with a girl.Later, he receives twenty-five strokes of the whip from Idek in front of everyone.

This event is important because it shows idek's cruelty and the harsh reality of life in the concentration camp.This moment connects to the theme of Individual survival  vs. The Collective Good, showing how individuals were being treated as objects rather then hums.

“How could I say to Him: Blessed be Thou, Almighty, Master of the Universe, who chose us among all nations to be tortured day and night, to watch as our fathers, our mothers, our brothers end up in the furnaces?”(Wiesel pg 67)

At this point of the chapter,Eliezer loses faith in God after seeing horrible things happen in the concentration camps.He can't understand why God would allow such suffering.

This event changes Eliezer,causing him to question his faith and lose his innocence. He feels like God is silent and absent and makes hims question gods love,power and existence.

'' How he had aged since last night! His body was completely twisted, shriveled up into himself. His eyes were glazed over his lips parched, decayed.Everything about him expressed total exhaustion.His voice was damp from tears and snow.''(Wiesel pg 88)

At this point of the chapter, the prisoner were forced to March in the snow after evacuating camp Buna.

This event shows that Eliezer is traumatize as he had to watch deaths, injury's and had to be extreme cold weather conditions.This moment connects to the theme of State-Sponsored Violence, showing how Hitler didn't cared how harsh conditions were and just let Jews get mistreated.

''On the third night of our journey,I woke up with a start when I felt two hands on my throat, trying to strangle me.i barely had time to call out '' father!' ''(Wiesel pg 102)

At this point of the chapter,Eliezer is woken when someone randomly tries to strangle him.He called his father and then is saved by another prisoner.

This event is important to Eliezer because it shows how desperate people can become and how people could lose their humanity.This moment connects to the theme of State-Sponsored Violence,showing how natiz didn't stop the guy from chocking Eliezer and didn't care to help him out in a serious situation.

'' I did not weep,and it pained me that I could not weep.But I was out of tears. And deep inside me,if I could have searched the recesses of my feeble conscience,I might have found something like: free!...''(Wiesel pg 112)

At this point of the chapter,Eliezer father died from sickness,starvation and exhaustion in the Buchenwald camp.

This event is important because it shows the turning point in Elizers life,forcing him him to confront the harsh realities of the world.This moment connects to the theme of family loyalty,showing how eliezer did a lot for his dad before dying and he felt free not having to struggle with his dad being so I'll.

"One day when I was able to get up, I decided to look at myself in the mirror on the opposite wall. I had not seen myself since the ghetto. From the depths of the mirror, a corpse was contemplating me. The look in his eyes as he gazed at me has never left me."(Wiesel pg 115)

At this point of the chapter, The natiz evacuate the camp and burned it because they American soldiers are free the Jews.

In this moment, Eliezer realizes he doesn't recognize himself,symbolizing the loss of identity and faith.This moment connects to the theme of Individual survival  vs. The Collective Good, showing how the natiz only cared about them and not caring what happen to Jews ,they just didn't want get caught.
