Viola Davis gave a speech at Barnard college which is an all female school. Which is significant to this speech due to her referring things that were effective and directed towards females. In the beginning of the speech Viola begins with talking about how everyone is a product to the environment, no matter how much you make, what you look like, or where you live or are. We are all some type of product for our environment. Viola discusses the harsh topics that are going on in our world right now. Viola also tells how she recently sky dived and thought that going all in, and sticking your arms and legs, can relate back to your success in life. You have to be willing to do anything to be the best you can be.

The main idea of this speech is that if you want to make a change you have to complete the small tasks first. By completing the small tasks it will encourage you to complete the bigger ones.

In the beginning he begins by saying that if you change the life of 10 people, and then those people change the life of 10 people. in 5 years, you would change the life's of 800 million people. In the middle he talks about his seal training, and the adversity you come to. In the end, he tells the class of 2014 to, start the day with a completed task, find someone to be along your side, respect everyone, and know that life is not fair.

This speech could be considered encouraging and persuasive because he gives you the advice on how to better you so you can better others. Start by doing small tasks for yourself, then focus on changing the life of others.

Will Ferrell, got his first ever graduation speech at USC, where he attended college. His speech was a funny one, but held serious things in it too. In the beginning, he mainly refers to his college experience, and how he ended college having no idea what he wanted to do. He always loved making people laugh so he tried comedy. Later on in Ferrell's speech he talked about he how accomplished many things in his life including his popularity and movies, but he thought his main accomplishment was his family. He talks about how everyone's success is important. He keeps the audience very well entertained during the speech with funny singing and jokes. His comment about how most people see him as a "joke" cause of being a comedian, can be seen as ethos. Ferrell's jokes and humor can be considered a rhetorical device.

The best best speech award goes to Admiral Mcraven, because of his relations during his speech back to real life. His speech gives many confidence that you can accomplish things no matter how big or small they are. But in order to start you need to complete that first task to feel like you can. Admiral Mcraven's tone, made others feel like it was in reach for them, and that they could make a change. The major part of his speech I thought that made him the best, was when he told us that if you change the life of 10 people that would turn into 10 more and by the end of 5 years you would reach over 800 Million people.
