This begins with practices like our morning meeting to gather students, and welcome them into our shared space, as well as going over the daily agenda. Each student will have a chance to hold one of our important classroom roles, so that they see themselves in leadership positions throughout the year. Roles will also build a shared sense of responsibility amongst our class community. I want to set class expectations early in the year as a group, so that we begin on the same page for how we show kindness, safety, and responsibility in our learning space. For work, I am not a believer in homework unless it holds value and will benefit students. Throughout content, I believe it's imperative that students find windows, doors, and mirrors across, especially in literature. This means that not only are they represented, but they have a chance to gain more perspectives and insight into the backgrounds, interests, and lives of the world around them. Learning has the chance to empower children and my role is to support that growth in any way I can. I acknowledge that sometimes we need an extra push, so I will incorporate those as needed throughout the week too.
