Something I learned from the video is that banned books are being banned for not very good reasons. This matters because kids are not getting the full view of the world. They are seeing the good side of the world and when they grow up, their not ready for the next step of their life.

Something that I learned from this video is that many of the banned books are related to LGBTQ and racial minority ideas. Also, many of these books are written by minimalized authors, and they are being challenged and banned by mainly white people. This matters because banning books basically limiting peoples freedom of speech, and this is one of the 10 amendments. It's also important because the people that these books are made for are not the ones who want to ban the books, the parents are trying to "protect" their kids' minds from the books. We need to keep these books in libraries because it will teach people valuable lessons for life, like activism in what you believe in.

Something I learned from this video was, banned books have been around for longer than we thought. many parents want books to be banned so they can protect they're kids from harmful content that may be too old or they aren't ready to learn about yet. more than 330 books were challenged last year to be banned. With all of these books getting banned many people feel as if they are getting put down or not seen when books that represent them are being taken down. She said "Don't let a book define your place or who you are." one question I have is what's more dangerous the books or the books being banned?

Something I learned from this video is that banning books is invalidating one's experience. Banning a book is a sign that the topic or the content of the book is something "inappropriate" or basically a non-white experience. This matters because it makes teenagers or people feel as if their experience is invalid or just something that shouldn't be talked about. For example, a book about figuring out your identity and sexuality got banned, it makes a student who is currently figuring out who they are as an individual feel as if their experience is just being overlooked and not given enough attention to. It makes the student feel peculiar about themselves. That's the cause of banning a book because of it's topic, especially when it's a real life situation/issue.

Something that I've learned from this video is that most books that are being challenged/banned are YA novels that relate to topics such as LGBTQIA+, Anti-policing and Racism. I noticed this out of all the things the dude talked about in the video because it piqued my interest that parents and weirdly enough politicians are trying to take these books out of public libraries because it simple either doesn't align with their opinion or it doesn't support the current policing system today. This shows that the people challenging these books dont exactly have deep reasoning against these texts but more or so they have an issue with the message that these authors of these books are pushing about said topics, From what I can see it simply seems as if they want to silence these authors voices to not let these topics be known to their young children whose opinions could be influenced by these books.

What i learned from the video, is that they attempt to protect kids and students by banning books that might come off in a negative way, but instead, it resulted in harming the way some kids and students look at themselves.

This matters because it changes the perspective of those who tries to have certain books banned that might've been helpful to another person, they could be banning a book that could've made somebody feel like they are not alone on their situation and experiences.

Something i learned from this video is that books are being banned to prevent the youth or kids to learn about the past and present. Books that are written for the LGBTQ or people figuring out theirselves; Racism and slavery too stories of the past are trying to be hidden and not brought up to kids which is taking away from us as people, Police cruetly too this is a new upcoming one due to trying to keep peoples mouth shut and in place and they treat us bad just for doing the right things and trying to spread word on this thats should be fixed. Many of these stories and experiences are trying to be forgotten into the past almost like they want to make us all the same.

In 2021, over 330 books were challenged in the US. Most of these books have values of racial identity, gender or sexual identity, or public events like police brutality, wars, murder, etc. The majority of these books were banned/challenged by parents who felt that their children were not ready for certain topics, but many times the books are being banned simply for having views that differ from the reader, or values that the reader disagrees with. Some of the adults in our lives wish to keep us on their path alone, using our reading (or lack thereof) to control us or keep us in line with their beliefs. These adults don't want us to question anything around us unless we are told to. That is why it is so important to read banned books, so you can learn about the world around you and gain perspectives from people who are different from you.

Something i took from this video was, Banned books often include politics, religion or other personal beliefs. Banning books are taking away peoples stories and their experiences as people. These books are marketed towards teenagers who will be our future they are taking away history because people believe these stories are to "graphic."

this matters because the people who are affected will be told that we can not speak freely. It does not seem right for representation to be taken away because people have a problem about it, just don't read the book.

Something I learned from this video is many books that where banned or getting targeted are books that were talking about hot topics, for example, LGBTQ, or police activity. Books that where targeted for bans had a strong meaning to people or the author writing that book due to the author deciding to write about topics that they know will be serious in society. Some books had certain chapters or sentences that offended others or sounded "not right" allowing governments to take action for what they say is "right."
