Using our stimulus, we created a workshop based around bullying in order to raise awareness to the younger students as to what they should do if they find themselves in a bullying situation. The style of this piece was forum theatre and the period was a modern day setting which made it more understandable for our target audience of year 5/6s. Our performance space was in the drama studio as we thought it would be a more suitable and welcoming place for the students. We used some props for example a Barbie doll to give more personality to a character in our small performance. Our contribution to the piece were actors.

DONT CHEAT

The piece we created was a Theatre in Education (TIE) workshop. Using the work of Augusto Boal and forum theatre as a stimulus, we created our own, scripted workshop. The style of our piece was naturalistic, and set in the 21st century, as this seemed more suitable for our target audience, year five and six students. We believed that this would help our audience identify with some of the characters in our piece. The workshop took place in our drama studio, usually on an 'end on' stage setting, however when we needed to be involved we would sit with the audience in a circle of chairs to create a more involved feel for the students. This also hopefully would have made the audience feel more safe and welcome in the new environment, they would be more focused on the activities happening rather than what was around them. We did not use any backdrop or pieces of scenery; we decided that because our workshop was activity based, we wanted to keep the drama studio as a flexible space that could be used for any exercise.

Our TIE piece was themed around bullying and how to stop it. It stands for Theatre In Education. For this we needed to perform a workshop to kids in year 5 or 6. The style of this piece was bullying. The target for this piece is ages 9,10 and 11. This workshop includes a couple of activities that we got from Mr Collins. The main part of our workshop was our performance. This showed a victim being bullied. We then asked the audience for ideas on what the victim should do.

At the end we showed the kids a PowerPoint in which summed up what they had learnt.

It was set in the present day, the genre was T.i.E (Theatre in Education), and our target audience was schoolchildren in Year 5 and Year 6.
