Student involvement: Students need to be concerned with their education and become involved in the learning process.  They need to play an active role in the classroom and express their needs to their teacher without fear.

To me if a school is going to make a plan of improvement they have to know first; where they are, where they want to be, where they were (possibly a year ago), what works well, what they need to fix and what others involved think ( a second opinion, if you will). The carousel gets the teachers input and considers their thoughts and ideas. The teachers are the ones who bear the responsibility of improving the data so they need to have a say in the improvement plan.

Attendance is a huge problem at my school. I think the most important part of the chapter and ideas for improving attendance is to recognize why the student is chronically absent. Constructing a school improvement plan requires a team effort in order to complete it effectively.  In the discussion of the data, individuals can share multiple perspectives and insights in order to determine the root causes of issues.  One person or source of data cannot determine the plan alone.  

In my opinion a good plan is only as good as the team willing to implement the plan. At my school attendance is a huge problem. I have always been annoyed by the attendance record of our students and find it very frustrating that our admin accommodates this behavior by allowing them to make up their missed time during Saturday school. This does not make up for the missed time in our classroom and does not help their test scores.
