It’s scary to know that indigenous Americans had to go through this. Like I know that they have faced a lot of oppression in history, but seeing these facts is just mind boggling.

In your opinion, should federal and local governments strive to do more than what is being proposed in the Federal Indian Boarding School Initiative? If so, what actions should they take?

I think it’s all super sad, there’s so many kids who go into adoption systems because their parents maybe aren’t prepared to have a kid or didn’t want to raise a kid and the foster care system is fucked so it’s super sad to take kids away from loving parents and putting them into a shitty situation for no reason.

I think a lot of my thoughts about this come from the fact that most white people in the past thought they were superior, and some still believe that to this day. I just want to know how they came to that mentality that white people are more “civilized” and the way indigenous people lived was “barbaric”

I never really knew too much about Native history until I was in college. We need to talk about our history so there is a lesser chance we repeat it.

I feel like a lot of what the government does is acknowledging it and calling it good which is stupid. Even take LAX, like we say all the time that this used to be the land of the Ho-Chunk people…and thats it….?
