The worlds market changed when corona hit, Deloitte's whole operation was at risk as they would have to make drastic changes to remain competitive and stable. One of the big issues was that most things had to move online which caused a big issue for the company itself, but also its many customers. with a strong push for reducing contact with all humans where possible it made it difficult for a lot of businesses to stay open. And there was a massive spike in demand for online retail, where some companies where not prepared for this leap.

The respond, recover, thrive plan developed by Deloitte helped them to address the complex environment. Respond helped to secure supply and manage cash levels. Recover helped to retain visibility, diversify suppliers to reduce risk, rebalance stock levels and respond to changing consumer demand. Finally, thrive helped to identify bottlenecks in the value chain, make sourcing supply network resilient with a long term view, develop a ‘control tower’ that identifies disruptions and maintain customer centricity with good communication.

the level of demand is dropping considerably.the forecast predictions could be wrong so it would be idiotic to follow these predictions in times of uncertainty. With demand being created online more than in store, brands now have an additional large overhead of their physical store while its generating no revenue for the brand. In any business model this is the part that should be cut out. (costing and not generating revenue).

There was a rush to get production, and businesses running again. which meant that there was not much time to put a plan together. and sustainable production plans usually take years for some large companies, so dealing with a pandemic, while having to completely change how the company runs and making the transport system for this new form of the business would be almost impossible for most businesses at this time. They also had to adjust how and where they supply too. in some cases they might have been delivering straight to a brick and motor, but instead they would only be delivering straight to warehouses as most retailers were forced to move online.

They put their Respond, Recover, Thrive action plan into practice, which is where they would take a look at how to maintain their supply chains for their current and new potential customers. then try and plan out how the supply chain and demands will have been affected by Covid-19, and change Deloitte accordingly, in terms of the way they operate. And finally adapt their plan for the future, and try to create a more robust and adaptive base for their future operation, as the market post covid-19 could be very different from before, and prepare for other future events such as these.
