I love my town because it's beautiful and the climate is Mediterranean.
My favourite sport is sailing and my favourite subjects are History and Maths. My town central square is near the picturesque port. It is beautifully decorated with the marble statue of a Greek hero, Androutsos, from our war of independence (1821) against the Turks. Every weekend I go for a walk with my friends along the marina , go shopping in the town centre or just enjoy a hot cup of chocolate.

I am 12 years old  and I have an older brother.
 I love volleyball and football. My favourite subjects are History and French. In the summer I love going to the beach and spend hours swimming and sunbathing. In winter we often go to the mile-long marina to see the yachts or go shopping in the town market. 
The people here are warm and friendly!

In the summer ,with tourists, the number could be doubled ; not during the pandemic, of course! There is an airport nearby and we have beaches with crystal clear waters and blue flag awards stretching for miles! In fact, Monolithi is considered the longest European beach! There are also lots of lovely restaurants , cafes and beach bars. Moreover, there are castles inside the city, like St. Andrews' castle and in the outskirts like St. Georges' castle. My favourite sports are tennis, swimming, vollyball and football. Our town has a swimming pool , where young children go to learn how to swim. Our beaches near the city are fantastic.
 In the summer, are little streets in the town market are crowded with tourists and local people enjoying local dishes  like grilled fresh fish, and Greek salads with delicious local tomatoes, olive oil and lots of freshly-cut vegetables .
 In July, we have  the famous international choir festival that attracts many young people from around the world. I am very proud to sing in the children's group of this  choir. In fact, my mother is the head of the Coast Guard! I am almost twelve years old and I go to the 4th Primary School of Preveza. I am quite tall with big, green eyes and brown hair. I love wearing jeans and dark T-shirts.
The weather is usually sunny, but in winter it often rains, that's why we have so many green fields around the  town. There is also  Amvrakikos wetland/ lagoon a few kilometres outside Preveza, where majestic Dalmatian pelicans nest and lay their eggs. It has amazing beaches, and the best one is Monolithi. 
I live near my school and the mini-market. My class is on the 2nd floor and all of my classmates are my friends. We also have an interactive board, which we use for our European projects and for our digital books' activities. Many little villages  are situated around Preveza with lots of olive trees and vegetable greenhouses (mainly tomatoes and cucumbers). I also go to the second group of our school's 6th grade. We have been learning English  for six years in our school and French these past two years.
My city  attracts lots of  tourists all year round, but 2020 was not a good year for our area's economy.
Preveza has lots of wonderful sights from all historical periods. We have Necromanteion, the oracle of the dead (where Odysseus descended to Hades according to Homer), the ancient city of Kassopi (in the photo) overlooking the Ionian Sea, the Roman city of Nikopolis (31 BC) , Byzantine basilicas, Venetian  clock tower and castles in addition to so many relics of the different invaders (French, Turkish...) that ruled the city until 1912, when it bacame part of the Greek state. ]]> 2021-01-18 16:38:56 UTC https://padlet.com/kdermitz/1cnkjjty1la5/wish/1098516827 kdermitz https://padlet.com/kdermitz/1cnkjjty1la5/wish/1098601954 I live in Preveza, which is so beautiful! I really missed my schoolfriends and the relaxing atmosphere of the town. My favourite pastime is riding our bikes to the port and enjoying an icecream sitting in the town square with my friends. We often meet in front of the clock tower in the city centre!
