If I understood the crowd source grading correctly, the teacher let's the students grade their own work by how much they put into it. What measures could you use to still ensure that quality learning is going on?

The opening video was very interesting. What authentic situations could we have our students do to put their language to use and on display?

The idea of PBL sounds great for more hands on. I am just not sure how that works in a language setting where the teacher is the main source of comprehensible input.

I liked the idea of people focused on learning not on grades, but very little was talked about how they dealt with the current system. They have to show some sort of progress on a progress report card, GPA, etc.

Much of this information is presented as student-centered, which is great. PBL is the direction I want to be headed as a teacher. However, many teachers are still trying to find the "easiest way to grade" for the most aligned assessment. The questions I ask are: What is keeping teachers from wanting to spend an appropriate time grading? Where is the boundary between peer/teacher feedback and the acquisition of a standard? Can teachers trust child or adolescent classmates as a whole to evaluate peer work "satisfactorily"? Do As, Bs, and Cs communicate to the students what they were able to accomplish? What would communicate this?

Dustino Ensa

I also have a similar question to Jorge's. I would love some examples of PBL in a language classroom. Would it be something like completing a successful interview with a native speaker at the end of the semester?

Also, evaluating PBL could be very subjective. How do we deal with that? I love all these ideas, I just feel that more concrete examples would be great.
