In 1963, Rivera met Marsha P. Johnson . Johnson was an African American drag queen and activist, Stonewall Inn uprising on June 28, 1969 when patrons of the Stonewall Inn was a gay bar in Manhattan , that same day police officers meditated to raid the bar and cause a disturbance that was mean to the people who were being social and not a nuisance.
