W3C’s role is to provide the standards for web development which include the format of code and it’s layout as well as the correctness of the code. 

The layout of code is important so that developers are able to understand what each section of the code is doing. Comments can be used to help others understand what each section of the code is doing but the layout is key as each line of code needs to be understood to see what some things in web development is doing.      

The correctness of code is also very important for several reasons, the first being that if parts of the code are not correct then whole sections of code can break with the slightest change to the way that the feature being used works. Another reason for having all of the code for a website correct is that it may cause users on other browsers such as opera or maxthon browser may not be able to view parts of your site. 

W3C is led by Tim Berners-Lee and the CEO of W3C is Jeffrey Jaffe, they both have a determination to take web to its full potential which is good news for web developers because this means that web will continue to advance with technology.
