This is a common fear that most people share about physical activity. They are scared that they will have a life-changing injury or constantly put themselves in pain to be fit. This is often a misconception! You only put yourself in danger if you are doing the exercise wrong or overexert yourself. Studies have shown that even moderate-intensity aerobic exercise, such as walking your dog around the block, is safe for most people. So if kicking a ball around or lifting heavy weights doesn't sit well with you or isn't your thing, then go out for a walk with Mr. Snuggles to get those steps in!

Physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. There are numerous health advantages to being physically in shape, which include:

Improvement in the strength of muscle and bones

Improves respiratory, cardiovascular, and overall health.

Maintain a healthy weight.

Reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers.

Regular physical activity can also keep your thinking, learning, and judgment skills sharp as you age.

It can reduce your risk of depression and anxiety and help you sleep better.

These factors are also one of the many reasons I believe it is essential to be physically fit, as I struggle with depression and anxiety myself, and one way I cope is by working out. So basically, to keep a clear head and a happy body, staying active is the way to go! #wellness

Physical Activity With COVID-19

COVID-19 has caused significant disruptions in our lives. Our routines have been altered left and right, among which are providers of personal fitness as quarantine forced gyms to close until further notice. While the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our normal routines, we should not allow it to disrupt our personal fitness as people. When stress and anxiety are at all-time highs for many people, maintaining a regime of physical fitness can provide some benefits to help mitigate those stressors. It even can benefit our immune system and make it stronger! A 2019 review in the Journal of Sports and Health Science found that studies show moderate to vigorous exercise, less than 60 minutes in duration, plays a role in immune system health. On top of that, the literature linked moderate-intensity exercise to a reduced incidence of upper respiratory infections and possibly decreased incidence of and mortality from influenza and pneumonia. In no way does this mean that it can prevent you from COVID-19, yet this virus does affect the respiratory system, which is a part of our body that physical activity can help with. Be active, get creative, stay motivated, make fitness a priority, and stay safe every time out the door!

Physical activity can come as a struggle to many as they may not know about the topic itself. Sharing information with your friends and family, like this blog, on physical fitness can help reassure them about their decision and hopefully motivate them! Along with information, they will need emotional support along the journey. Being physically active can be something very personal for people, and being there for your friends in their time of need encourages them to stay on track with their personal goal of fitness. What do you guys think? Will you encourage friends and family to stay physically motivated? Or will you start including a daily walk with Mr. Snuggles into your own life every week? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!! #positivtiy#physicaleducation
