assalamualaikum wbt and jum'ah barakah. for today's session, we resumed our last topic with further elaboration of beliefs in the Messengers, Day of Judgement, and Qadha' & Qadar. they are parts of the Six Pillars of Iman.

4. belief in the Messengers

prophets and messengers were sent by Allah The Almighty to every nation throughout the history of mankind to reveal the message of Islam. they were commanded to:

- call the people to worship only Allah SWT, without associating any partners with Him.

- warn those who disbelieved about the punishment of Hell, - give glad tidings to those who believed about the reward of Paradise.

the final revelation and the most comprehensive message came through our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW.

5. belief in the Day of Judgement

the Day of Judgment is the day when Allah judges mankind for their deeds. every human being will be resurrected from their graves and will be given their book of deeds, both good and bad.

whomever does not believe in the Last Day, they considered as Kafr. believing in the Day of Judgement can enhance our love and faith in Allah SWT and feel immense joy when we encounter Him, which also evokes a sense of fear within us.

6. belief in Divine Decree (Qadha & Qadar)

qadar refers to the decree or determination set by Allah SWT in the Lawh Mahfuz (the Preserved Tablet) whilst qadha is refers to the execution or fulfillment of Allah's decrees and commands. it is the actual manifestation of what has been predetermined by qadar.

the four main components of Qadha & Qadar:

knowledge (Ilm): Allah's complete and eternal knowledge of everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen.

writing (Kitabah): the recording of all things in the Lawh Mahfuz (the Preserved Tablet), where Allah has decreed what will occur.

will (Iradah): Allah’s will, which determines what will happen in accordance with His knowledge and decrees.

creation (Khalq): the actual creation and occurrence of events, where Allah brings His decrees into reality.

believing in Qadha & Qadar offers several benefits:

1) peace of mind: as we began to accept that everything is predetermined, it lessen our worries and have 100% faith in Allah SWT.

2) remove immoral values and negative thoughts

3) greater appreciation for life

alhamdulillah, that's everything for today. i am truly grateful for the opportunity to attend the usrah, even though we encountered numerous challenges & obstacles along the way. may Allah ease everything.

usrah improvement: incude many tremendous activities to uphold a fun environment.

today's topic: sawm (fasting)

literal meaning: to abstain or restrain oneself.

actual meaning: to refrain from desires such as eating, drinking, and engaging in activities that invalidate the fast, from dawn to sunset, accompanied by niyyah (intention).

the wisdom of fasting:

fasting instills self discipline by teaching us to control our desires (refraining from food and drink) and avoid sinful behaviors (gossiping, cursing, and other harmful actions).

Rasulullah SAW said:

من لم يدع قول الزور والعمل به فليس لله حاجة في أن يدع طعامه وشرابه‏"‏"

                                     (‏رواه البخاري‏)

" if one does not eschew lies and false conduct, Allah has no need that he should abstain from his food and his drink."

assalamualaikum &jum'ah barakah everyone!

today we briefly discussed about zakat/sadaqah.

in Surah al-Baqarah verse 277, Allah said:

"Indeed, those who believe, do good, establish prayer, and pay alms-tax will receive their reward from their Lord, and there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve."

what is zakat?

literal meaning: growth, increase, cleanliness, betterment.

actual meaning: a determined share of wealth prescribed by God to be distributed among deserving categories.

what are the difference between zakat and sadaqah?

zakat is a compulsory act of ibadah (wajib), whilst sadaqah is an encouraged/recommended act (sunnah).

zakat is a formal and ritualistic act mandated by Islamic rulings, whereas sadaqah is neither a formal obligation nor a ritual act.

zakat is divided by two categories, zakat al-fitr and zakat on wealth. sadaqah is a broad concept and does not have specific rules.

the signifance of zakat is also mentioned in surah at-Taubah verse 103: "Take from their wealth ˹O Prophet˺ charity to purify and bless them, and pray for them—surely your prayer is a source of comfort for them. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing."

hikmah of zakat:

tawakkul: reliance on Allah, trains the ummah not to be dependent on wealth and avoid overspending. zakat ensures the belief that Allah will reward and compensate abundantly.

ukhwah: fosters love, empathy, unison among Muslims, purifies society from envy & hatred. zakat is a bridge that strengthens our relationships with both Allah and fellow humans.

to conclude, zakat is not something trivial, nor is it merely a financial obligation. rather, it is an act of worship that nourishes our spiritual needs. it reinforces reliance on Allah and strengthens the bonds of brotherhood (ukhwah) among Muslims.

that's all from now. we also had our "heart to heart" session which was incredibly exciting! see you soon.
