Both Orthodox and Methodist denominations believe in the doctrine of original sin, which states that human beings are sinful from the day they are born as a result of Adam and Eve's first sin in the Garden of Eden.

Both the Catholic and Orthodox denominations have a centralized organization, with the Pope (Catholic) or Head Patriarch (Orthodox) to make the most important decisions for the entire denomination, who resides in a capital city (Constantinople for Orthodox, Vatican City for Catholic).

Both Catholic and Methodist denominations believe that acceptance and usage of sacraments is a crucial piece of receiving salvation, and that the sacraments themselves are tools of forgiveness.

In both the Methodist and Baptist denominations, individuals churches have their own council or board of members that help to make decisions for the church. However, Methodists do have a more centralized structure as a whole (in comparison to Baptists, who do not have bishops, collectives of churches, etc...).
