When the Bilecki’s decided to help the Jews, they went into the woods to build them a bunker. They took care of them for a year. When there was snow, they would jump from tree to tree to get to the bunker, so that they wouldn’t leave any footprints for the Nazis to find. After the area was liberated by the Soviet army, they kept in touch with the Bilecki’s, sending them clothing and food.

During his act of resistance, he was only 15 years old! On June 6, 1943, Julian heard a knock on his door. 23 Jews who escaped a death camp appeared at his door. He couldn't fit them in his house, so he decided to build them a bunker in the woods. He covered the bunker with twigs, dirt, and sticks, to disguise them from the Nazi death camps. He took care of them for about a year!
