I have always wanted to work in an industry where many languages are involved, and I do believe that a course that speaks about the global tourism industry can help me to achieve it. I want to develop my skills and knowledge in an international level, develop an understating of the industry and gain knowledge of strategic management of tourism-related businesses. As I came to the country, I had difficulties in fitting with the new schooling system but I was keen to always give the best and achieve what I always wanted. Being born and raised in Italy, I have the opportunity to attend a language school where I was able to learn Italian, English, Spanish, German and Latin, which I believe is one of my strongest key skills, as I have the possibility to easily understand people from other countries and can travel abroad have less problems when it comes to language barriers. In addition to that, I also have business knowledge as I have studied Business Level 3 at University College Birmingham and the current knowledge that have from studying International Tourism Management at the University of Northampton.

Being from a foreign country, one of my personal accomplishments over the years has been to adjust to a new system. This has also helped me become more confidence because I had to start over and meet new people. I have a deep love for exploring the world and am constantly eager to pick up new languages. I've been to a variety of countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Germany, Spain, and France, and I intend to do so again in order to learn more about their tourist industries, their culture and local cuisine.

The personal interests that I have picked up over the years is travelling, as mentioned earlier I have been to a couple of countries over the years alone, with family or friends and I had the opportunity to experience the country in different ways. When I travelled with my mother to my home country, Nigeria, I was able to visit the tourist side of the country but also cities that were not tourists destinations and I was able to experience the difference of both sides. Cities such as Lagos, which is the capital of Nigeria and also one of the top destinations for tourists, I have noticed that it was well maintained but other cities that are not tourists destinations are not well maintained such as road not being fixed, not having unlimited supply of water and electricity. Being able to see that it made me understand the importance of tourism in certain areas and how they can benefit from it.

My other interests are learning new languages and visiting natural places. From a young age I had a passion in learning new languages due to the love of travelling, being able to learn the languages of places you are visiting is a way to feel more connected to the places you visit and as a personal achievement it can be beneficial in the work industry as I am able to speak and understand people that come from different countries. My current goal is to be able to learn Arabic for personal reasons and being able to take my career opportunities to an Arab country that is one of the growing destinations when it comes to tourism and the tourism industry.

When thinking about career path, my area of interest is on the hotel managerial sector. The career that has

When thinking about my career path, my goal is to work in the hotel managerial sector and director of operations. The careers I am looking to pursue are in order of job promotions. Knowing that getting a job position as director of operations requires to have a certain level of experience and knowledge of the hotel, in that case the job that I would look forward working in are supervisor or general manager in the UK to gain experience before moving abroad to expand my knowledge and aiming the position as director of operations.

Working in a team is a good way to hear other people’s point of view or idea in a discussion or a project. Working together as a team involves more than just completing something. It's the capacity to collaborate with others, support them in realising their full potential, and advance common objectives. In addition, one of the most sought-after abilities by employers in their workforce is collaboration.

According to Glenn M. Parker, International Workshop Facilitator, Consultant, Conference Speaker and Author in the area of teamwork, collaboration and team meetings, there are four main categories of team members: contributors, collaborators, communicators, and challengers.

The Contributor

Contributors are task-oriented team members that are totally committed to finishing the duties that have been assigned to them. They take responsibility seriously and are meticulous and structured. They are committed to their job and support the group by giving all the technical data and knowledge. They often establish strict performance criteria and make sure that every facet of the project is handled.

The Collaborator

Parker claims that collaborators are extremely goal-oriented individuals who value the team's vision, objective, and goal highly. They tend to be adaptable, innovative, and receptive to new ideas. They appreciate working outside of their designated duties to add value to the project and love collaborating with the other team members.

The Communicator

Members that are process-oriented and committed to making sure there is excellent process management are known as communicators. According to Parker, this kind of team member is good at communicating. They are champions of conflict resolution, skilled listeners, engagement facilitators, and mediators. They excel in bringing other team members to a common understanding and are in charge of upholding a wholesome and constructive work atmosphere. They are also seen as optimistic individuals who are respected for their consideration, zeal, support, and tact.

The Challenger

Challengers frequently inquire deeply about the objectives, strategies, and morals of the team while constantly considering the broader picture. They frequently urge their team to take calculated chances, and they frequently don't mind debating with powerful people or superior leaders. They are recognised as being moral, ethical, honest, outspoken, and daring however. (Sookah-Dreepaul, 2021)

According to the project my participation varies, the Contributor and the Collaborator are more suited to me when I think about my role in a team. When placed in a group the best way I perform is by doing relevant research to feed back to the group with information and ideas. The area I primarily need to work on is my leadership as it will be needed in all three the job positions as I will have to delegate people.

Why is teamwork important

Building trust among co-workers is the primary factor in why cooperation is so crucial in the workplace. There are several reasons why this is the case. Effective cooperation boosts output and makes your staff happier. More chances for training and growth are created, and it promotes a feeling of community inside the company.

There are generally innumerable answers for each activity or issue. When one individual takes on a project, they might be able to generate a few new concepts during the course of the project. However, when a team works on an issue, the project gains from a variety of viewpoints, expertise, and experiences at once.

Therefore, a collaborative approach can result in quicker, more profound innovation.

Over the years I managed to gain experience and skills that will help me to achieve the job position that I am aiming for.

Being multilingual is one of the first skills and personal achievements, being able to speak and understand other languages it enhanced my communication skills as I can speak to people from other countries and it increases a career opportunity as it more flexible to go to other countries to get a job.

In addition to that, a research from the University of Pompeu Fabra in Spain found that multilingual persons are better observers of their environment. Any irrelevant or false information is quickly picked up by them. They are also more adept at spotting false information than their monolingual counterparts.

The intellect grows while becoming sharper as a result of learning a new language. The cortical thickness of the bilingual brain, which is typically linked with higher intellect, is only affected when language acquisition happens later in life, after achieving competency in the first language, according to a 2014 research titled "Age of Language Learning Shapes Brain Structure".

In the coming years there are improvements that needs to be made to improve my current skills and gain more in the presenting in front of an audience and have more leadership skills. The way they can be achieved over the years I need to practice in how speak in front of an audience and my body language, they can be achieved by practicing in front of friends and family that is more comfortable and then see what more can be worked on. Another way to improve speaking in front of an audience is by practicing voice and breath control, many times I had issues with my breath control where I would speak too fast and not pause to the point I am out of breath which is not professional, so working on that it will help in being more confident.

To improve the leadership skills, taking part of more projects will help being more confident and taking tips from the person in charge of the group and try to implement them. Also by engaging more it will help to speak more in a group.

Organisational skills is another important skill that I need to improve, by creating to do lists, identifying the importance of the tasks and deadlines and maintaining a good work-life balance and working environment it will help me to improve and being able to implement it in the work environment.
