It occurred June 17, 1775 in Boston, more specifically Charlestown. The main point of battle was focused on two main hills. These hills were named Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill. The American Military was forced to play defense in this battle because the British decided to overtake these two hills. The Americans found out about their plan to do this so they needed to act quick overnight to be more specific. What the military decided to do was essentially beat the British to the hills. American troops went overnight and built forts and different other structures about 6ft in the air to make sure it could defend against the British. You could say that the Americans didn't prepare very well because they ran out of ammo before the battle was over. After the two main attacks by the British America couldn't handle anymore.
