2. Since there were icebergs in the area, the ships speed was far too fast at 21 knots.
3. Water started to pour inside, weakening the hull still further.
4. The steel became brittle in the icy waters of the North Atlantic.
5. Water had flooded to the hull to the ship's bow, causing the entire vessel to split into two.
