To me, these crimes seem very serious, so knowing that an activist would receive this amount of time in prisons shows the corrupt system in Saudi Arabia.

This upsets me that her family has to go through something like this. Standing up for what you believe in freely is what makes America different from many countries. These actions that Hathloul pursued should make her parents proud, and they should not have to defend their daughter. It also must be frustrating to try to persuade narrow-minded people that their daughter is doing nothing wrong, when this is something that deserves to be celebrated.

The definition of a terrorist is "a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims." As an American, it does not make sense to me how an activist, with good intentions, could be categorized as a terrorist. However, if the government finds her actions to be intimidating in order to make political gains, I can understand this accusation. This goes to show the importance of cultural context in this type of scenario. In other words, every country and culture evaluates situations differently.
