One of the goals we have was to pass our o levels examination with flying colours that will allow us to be able to choose the course that we wanted. We uses our talents in different ways such as one of my friend is talented in art and he tries to teach us ways to draw better while other of my friends is talented in thinking creatively and help us think of ideas to solve and overcome our difficulty .personally, I been nurturing my talent in math through consistent practice and I am able to help my classmates by explaining the solution in details which will help us do well in our examination. We also enter an art competition which my friend who are good at competition is able to draw while we think of creative ideas and we use our talents to creative an astonishing work which are one of its kind and won the competition. My talent in running also helps me to make me a healthier person being good in basketball I frequently invite my friends to go jog with me and explore Singapore , by doing so we are able to maintain a good and healthy lifestyle which also helps us in concentrating in class which is a important key to scoring for o levels.

How far you agree that encouraging sport in
schools is more important than competitions for top athletes?

I agree to a large extent because encouraging school to have
sport it helps the student to have a healthy lifestyle, anger management,
social bond, safe fun environment and improves grades compare to promoting
competition for the top athletes.

I believe having a healthy lifestyle will decrease the number
of student getting sick and missed out on school. It is never too early to
start a healthy lifestyle through diets and exercise. Teenagers who play sports
are already starting the habit of exercise that will then increase the chances
of having the same habit during adulthood. Anger management is a difficult time
in life and sports will provide the help it needs. Hitting a baseball or tennis ball
can release the tension and frustration after having a bad day. Social bonding
also help to develop the bond between people and having to do so will then lead
to learning new things from each other and also can create a safe and secure environment
for student to be in. lastly it also help students to improve in their grades because
sports will help them to relax their minds and set the environment right for
them.

Do you think that people can be taught to be creative? Why, or why not?

Many states have begun calling for tests of student creativity. Massachusetts has already authorized such tests, and the Governor of California has demanded similar tests for his state's students. The only reason to test for creativity in schools is to teach it and to determine how well it is being taught. But can creativity be taught? Can creative outcomes be authorized in the classroom?

It is believe that the basic understanding for imaginative and creative thinking can be exercised in classroom teaching. It is also believe that certain habits, behaviours and strategies related with the creative process can be modelled in classroom learning. Classroom curricula can also promote and sustain nurturing environments for creativity. But i don't believe that creativity itself can be taught. Well, not directly.

A survey conducted by Fast Company has shown that 33% of creativity is self-taught and 16% are taught in school by teachers. The rest of the percentage are influences by others for an individual to be creative; parents, friends and entertainments. This survey also shows that 29% of our self-creativity occurred during late at night.

Therefore, I don’t think that people can be taught to be creative.

Azlyn

How far would you agree that much of the shopping we do is unnecessary?

I would agree to a large extent. Humans tend to spend more money on unnecessary items rather than necessary items. Research has shown that there are 300,000 items in the average American home. British research found that the average 10-year-old owns 238 toys but plays with just 12 daily. Reports indicate we consume twice as many material goods today as we did 50 years ago. All while carrying, on average, nearly $15,950 in credit-card debt. These researches are true because I myself spent too much money on unnecessary items. For examples, whenever I go out with my friends, I’ll see something that I like or I think that it is pretty. I’ll always go into the shop that is selling that item and I would buy it without thinking that if this item is necessary for me or will I use this product that I buy. Also this is how I buy clothes, I find them pretty, I’ll buy. But I won’t wear that clothing that I bought because I would think that it is ugly so I’ll leave it in my closet to collect dusk. I have many unnecessary things at home that are collecting dusk on my desk or taking up space in my storeroom. The reason for this is because we feel that if we buy those unnecessary items, we would feel happy. When we are buying those items, would we think of these questions, “Will I use these items?”, “Is it necessary for me to buy these items?” and also “Why do I need to buy these items?” No, we don’t. We are so caught up in the moment that we forgot to ask ourselves these questions. Therefore, these are the reasons why we spent too much money on unnecessary items.

Even though my family and I were enjoying our times together as one, my family and I were constantly exhausted due to the amount of time spent outside walking and shopping at retail stores. Recently, It was then online shopping became popular on the internet. Many retail stores in Singapore have been using the internet as a platform for their businesses. The only prominent difference between online shopping and reality shopping is that the latter requires movement of the human body which could wear down an individual easily. However, both the functions of it are the same. Therefore, our family’s shopping habits have changed in recent times.

If you were on the losing side, what will you do to motivate yourself?
By making an effort to feel grateful, you’ll realize how competent and successful you already are. This will rejuvenate your confidence and get you motivated to build on your current success. Also, by focusing your mind on a positive goal instead of an ambiguous fear, you put your brain to work. It instantly begins devising a plan for success. Instead of worrying about the future, you start to do something about it. This is the first step in motivating yourself to take action. When know what you want, you become motivated to take action.
Everybody will have their own failures in life. I am an introvert, thus it was difficult for me to socialize with people around me as there will be fear holding me back. What I do was to focus on what I want to do, which was to be able to be myself in front of others. Thus, I tried different ways in order to be myself. After years, I am much more comfortable in front of people than before. Therefore, I think that to motivate myself is by focusing on my goals.

Shermin

Self-reliant is the confident in our abilities and be able to do things for yourself rather than needing help from others. Self-reliant can help us to be responsible, manage our time wisely, making our own decision and be more independent. For example, being independent, capable of thinking or acting oneself, I have a cousin who is studying at London, before heading to the country, she thought that things would be easily without having parent to come along, but after a few days staying in London, she kind of regret not having parents by her side, cause she have to do the laundry by herself, cook for herself to eat as the food there in London is quite expensive and . I think teenagers should start taking self-reliant in secondary schools, as parent have to work in the afternoon which allow no one to care of them, of course, there are some family household have hired maids to take them of their children. School should provide talks and workshop for students to be more self-reliant in their daily life such as doing household chores so they will not be a burden for parents to come home in the afternoon to cook or buy lunch for their children. Workshops can teach students that self-reliant can help them not only in their daily life but teach them how to use self-reliant when comes to society such as in working in the industries sites. For me, I start learning self-reliant during primary school, my parent trained me to be self-reliant.

Gerald. My grandparents keep fit and active. They always believe that
going for a morning walk every day can help preventing themselves from mental
deterioration as dementia is commonly in the elderly. Studies have shown that
regular exercise, such as walking reduces the risk of the disease and helps
prevent brain function as we age. They also believe that keeping fit helps them sleep soundly. They
know that insomnia can be a very serious issue and going for a morning walk can
help them have a good night’s sleep. Walking exercise the body while relax the mind of theirs. With a properly functioning circulatory
system , strong muscles and positive
attitude it will help them have a good quality sleep at night.

How far would you agree with the view that it is good for young and old people to do things together?

I feel that it is good for young and old people to be doing things together due to the differences that they might have among each other. Firstly, experience. When doing something together, lets say golf. the older person might probably stand a higher chance in winning due to his experience in the sport throughout the years. When they do this together, the younger person may learn a thing or two along the way. Secondly, even though that someone older may be more experienced at something, it does not mean that a younger person with little experience may not keep up with the pace. Lets say in the fitness world. Back in the days, the science behind bodybuilding were usually based on experiences more than on “science”. They would train without knowing what exercises are actually good for a specific muscle group. So some of what older bodybuilders might say may be myths rather than what bodybuilders of today may now say would probably be true due to research.

Having a good time management will enable one to spent time fully and will not waste time doing nothing. For example, I did not do well in my mid-year examination last year. Therefore, I started to plan my time on what I should do after school. I stop wasting time and spent my time wisely. Hence, having a good time management resulted me in passing my NLevels.

Another key will be having a positive attitude and not a negative one. Having a positive attitude will lead you to have a positive mindset. This will then be important when one’s goal is big and people around are teasing him and do not believe that he can do it. At this time one will need a positive mindset and not get distracted by others or start to doubt oneself ability.

This will thus lead to the last key, which is not to give up. Setting a goal is easy, but working towards it is difficult. However, if one is not giving up, then one will definitely reach his goal and succeed. For instance, during physical education we have to take our NAFA test and the station that we dislike the most will be the 2.4km run. During the run, I had thoughts running through my mind telling me to give up. However, as having sports as my co-curriculum activities, we will always run 20 or even 30 minutes continuously. This will then be the reason that I should not give up and run till the end. At last, by not giving up I indeed pass my 2.4km run.

In conclusion, other then having confidence, one will need to have a good time management, positive attitude and the sprit of not giving up to achieve success.
