I chose pages from "The Road" specifically because I feel the material has multiple meanings. The book itself is about a wandering father-son duo who grieve their past while being forced to carry on. Nostalgia can be like that. I also think that using these book pages is meaningful because the pieces of art that we hold dear can be responsible for who we are. A red dress signifying status and pinkish purple lips representing the makeup being worn. hair down and a defined jaw to show that this is how I feel myself would be presented if I had to appear in this type of environment. The medium of my art is uncooked fettuccine pasta, oatmeal, bread flour, conchiglie pasta, and rice.  The surface is a granite countertop in my kitchen. It’s supposed to represent the act of having made my art of food in the kitchen. They are also all a type of grain. 

The feeling portrayed in the art was what I felt when I found out about this assignment. There’s nowhere better to start than my favorite place in my house, the kitchen.
