Bush. This act held school districts with grades K-12 in the United States responsible for the achievements and learning of each and every student. No student would be left behind because it was the teaching and instruction in the school that would be held accountable for the outcome of each child from their programs. 

The No Child Left Behind Act is important in Bilingual Education today because it’s important for teachers, school districts, and state requirements to take into consideration each child that is learning and achieving goals in their program. In education today, student’s needs and successful learning is the responsibility of the school and every child has the right and opportunity to reach their educational goals.

This can be difficult for ELL students because they could possibly be in a program with others who only speak English and it can be difficult for them to learn in that type of setting. This was seen and known as an educational goal for non- English speaking students. The Improving America’s School Act provided programs in mainstream schools to address the needs of students. 

This is important in Bilingual Education today because all students deserve to have their educational goals and needs met in school. Having specific program requirements and instruction in schools everyday leads to the success and achievements of non-English speaking students as well as students with special needs. There are many programs that provide English-immersion instruction or push-in and pull-out programs for ELLs to allow them to learn and achieve their educational goals while feeling included and comfortable in their school environments.

The Seal of Biliteracy is displayed on their High School Diploma when they graduate, and all students who are bilingual or multilingual have the opportunity to receive one. 

The Seal of Biliteracy is important in Bilingual Education today because it allows students who are fluent in different languages to have the opportunity to be seen and feel hard in their culture and language backgrounds. The Seal of Biliteracy provides many opportunities in future careers and college programs for bilingual and multilingual students.
