We often neglect our surroundings and fail to appreciate that our identities are reflected in the objects we surround ourselves with. While identity is shaped by personal experiences, social connections, and cultural influences, these aspects take physical form through books, memorabilia, relics, and nostalgia items. Throughout this project, I questioned what would happen if we were stripped of these items, if our disregard for the environment would result in our displacement, and who we would become without decoration. My piece represents this; once each object is removed, the bag's identity is lost, with only the silhouette and memory being left.

‘Once Upon a Time’ explores the connection between culture and narratives through the use of folklore.

Entailing both factual and storytelling perspectives, articles became a key reference, allowing the exploration of evolving stories. I used inspiration from traditional asian hairpins to investigate a darker depiction of the spider in contrast to opposing portrayals.

Based on Japanese tales of the Jorogumo, this piece, made with Brass and cotton thread, was influenced by the seductive and manipulative nature of the creature, serving as a decoration that keeps count of victims, using the beads to symbolise each human woven into its trap. 

Explores how tactile experiences profoundly shape the inner lives of neurodiverse individuals. This project delves into the complexities of tactile learning, hypo-/hyper-sensitivity, and the ongoing struggle with self-regulation—emphasizing the need for greater awareness of sensory processing disorders. Rooted in my own personal experiences, the memory bag emerged: a wearable piece composed of layered wood and clay sheets, each featuring a distinct cutout. These layers slide into place through a drawer-like mechanism creating an interlocking structure that ties sensory impressions to specific touch-based memories—each axis symbolizing a person, place, or object. Through this composition, intimate sensory experiences are translated into a unified sculptural form that invites both tactile engagement and introspective connection.

I designed this piece of jewelry as a tribute to my mother. At its heart are delicate bird wings, symbolizing the freedom and trust she has always given me. Sun rays shine around them, a sign of life and warmth she brings. The piece rests gently on the shoulders, showing her strength, and flows down to the stomach, honoring the beauty of creation and fertility. carrying her spirit in every detail

This project features Jewellery photography, and a hand-made book made from trousers and leather sourced from Kate Sheridan workshop. It explores jewellery photography in non-professional contexts with a focus on storytelling and image crafting. Whilst the process of bookbinding with paper will never be a completely sustainable practice, thinking about unique ways we can re-use, recycle and source materials co-operatively is an important step for the future.

Bags and Accessories

This accessory is composed of an ear component and a body component, crafted from heat-shrink film, acrylic, rigid tin foil, and raw rings. My intention is to enable individuals to rediscover the joys of nature, such as sound and tactile sensations, among others. In contemporary society, people are excessively fixated on outcomes and are unable to fully immerse themselves in the present moment. Personally, I am deeply fond of listening to the sounds of nature, as I believe they impart a significant amount of energy. I aspire to encapsulate this energy within the accessory, allowing the wearer to experience the natural vitality it embodies.

Bags and Accessories

My work is about the Jingwei of Shan Hai Jing and belongs to protective jewelry. Jingwei is a divine beast from China. She was originally the daughter of Emperor Yan. After playing in the sea, she was buried there and transformed into Jingwei. She turned her grief and anger into strength and attempted to fill the sea with stones. I created this piece using the enamel imitation technique and adopted the shape of seabird feathers. I incorporate the spirit of Jingwei into my works, hoping that she can protect the people at sea.

Mortise and tenon structure is often found in ancient Chinese architecture, it does not require the use of glue as a connecting material can be made to make the two individuals together, so I thought that how to apply this structure to the jewelry will have what kind of effect, do not use the glue or welding way to combine each individual will be what, after my research and testing I finally chose to use in the jewelry to the interlacing mortise and tenon I finally chose to use the interlocking mortise and tenon structure in my jewelry to combine each individual.

Traces and Remains

Traces & Remains explores the tragedy of abandoned spaces by transforming the wearer into a living statue, restricted by the weight and scale of the piece. The project aims to evoke empathy for forgotten places and objects, like gravestones and ancient monuments, while celebrating the beauty found in their slow reclamation by nature. Research spanned sculpture, decay, body adornment, and organic forms. The final piece is constructed from found rusted steel rebar, twisted wires, and real ivy - materials tied to urban neglect. Though visually aggressive and heavy, its symmetry and radial structure offer a sense of calm, creating a powerful narrative of erosion and rebirth.

My jewellery project explores the concept of skin shedding as a metaphor for personal transformation, vulnerability, and protection. Inspired by organic processes, the knit wire mimics the textures and forms of peeling skin and scales, revealing hidden layers beneath. These layers can be both delicate but serve as a protective armour - particularly when placed on the neck, a vulnerable part of the human body. There is a beauty in embracing vulnerability as a strength.

Orgel is a wearable jewelry piece inspired by steampunk, music, and kinetic movements. Referenced from character Olympia in The Tales of Hoffmann, Orgel aims to critique socialist systems of agency and control. The piece voices how refugees and immigrants are often abused as political statements. Often exploited to promote radical multiculturalism that has failed enormously in the Western world. Like a wind-up doll, their narratives are scripted by socialist agendas rather than shaped by their voices. Orgel challenges this compliance, urging a reflection on autonomy, exploitation, and the silent strength within forced obedience.
