Clara Barton also played a crucial role in revolutionizing nursing by providing direct care to wounded soldiers on the battlefield. She organized supply drives, distributed medical supplies, and worked tirelessly in field hospitals, often under dangerous conditions.

Nursing during the war was challenging and often dangerous. Nurses worked in makeshift field hospitals, where they cared for soldiers suffering from severe injuries, diseases, and infections. They faced overcrowded conditions, a lack of proper medical supplies, and unsanitary environments. Many nurses, primarily women, worked long hours, often under dire circumstances, without formal training. Despite these hardships, their work was vital in improving recovery rates and shaping the future of the nursing profession.
