Using his pastel chalk, he touched the eyes with blue-not the right blue, he would need oil paints for that-and put just a hint of red in her lips, smudging the chalk with a wetted finger.
I think it keeps happening over and over because he might really like the girl/love the girl. He may think she is beautiful and he uses his art to represent his feelings.

Peter pounded on the door again. "Something's wrong. I don't know what, but Surf Cat's real scared.: (a little later) Meow, Meow, Meow. God that cat had big lungs.
I think the character is acting that way because he is really scared of something and he doesn't like it at all.

"Sarah's mother poked her head up from the hatch. Her hair was a complete mess, but her bleary eyes were clearing quickly. What's all the commotion? The boat shuddered with another jolt. Across the bay, the top half of a steep cliff broke away and tumbled in a cloud of dust. Boulders rolled off a ridge and plowed into the lower jungle. I'll e a Richter, Sarah's father said in awe. It's an earthquake, a big one. I think we'd better get out of here." I think it will change things because they were just doing their thing when, BAM!! A big earthquake happens, and instead of continuing to do what they were doing, they have to try and get safe. I think Sarah found that out first of her family.

"With her longer arms and legs, she sometimes had to pull Peter along. Her heart pounded so hard she became afraid it would literally burst. Sweat poured off her. How high were they? Were they safe?" It make's me wonder about how much she loves her family, like she would do anything just to save her family.

I think the life lesson is that he doesn't want to have orders and it effects the character because he will try and be his own boss and not get orders.

I think it keeps happening because it might be something he might not believe so he keeps asking why its happening.

I think the life lesson is that you need to be able to rest and heal before you can do anything challenging or in the middle rest is the most important and I think this will effect the character because he will use it to heal and rest before he tries to go fine his dad.
