         <description><![CDATA[<p>What was it:</p><p>The 2nd continental congress was a group of high ranking representatives from every colony that appointed George Washington as the general. This is where they set up their armies against Britain and where they created and approved the declaration of independence.</p><p><br/></p><p>Why was it important:</p><p>Because they were the ones who created the constitutional army and made other important documents.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Winter at valley forge- Dec. 19 1777</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>What happened:</p><p>George Washington wanted his men to take a break from battle, so they tested in valley forge for the year. It was a good spot because it was an easy to defend plateau and there was little chance of a large battle due to the cold weather and muddy ground. </p><p><br/></p><p>Why was it important:</p><p>It was important for the soldiers to rest and be trained how to fight, and George Washington knew they needed a break. This also brought the soldiers together.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>What happened:</p><p>George Washington lead his army with french allies and surrounded cornwallis's army at Yorktown. The British tried to escape through water, but the French navy was in the water, preventing them from escaping. This resulted in Cornwallis's surrender.</p><p><br/></p><p>Why is it important:</p><p>This was the last major battle of the American revolution. It also forced most of the British to surrender. </p>]]></description>
