Hello, my name is Derek Smith I am 22 years old male American American, And right now I am on a journey to get a city job to make a least a living but I couldn't of pick a worst time because I am part of the (great migration) This is many poor African Americans (like me) are moving to major cities future from the south the get out of racial tension and not find a job so it is tight. This all gave us a chance of new start when many white men had to join the army from the (Selective Service Act) and this required all men between 21 and 30 to register for the draft, even though I feel for there families like my papa always says God has a plan. But let me tell you when America was in that war our whole country was in "Total War" what Imean by this was when the whole country is on board for the war your country is going to base their supplies off the war so everyone can help towards the war. so factories that made normal clothing would make clothing for the war my momma even got into it by making blankets to send to the war camps. She even sent one to my brother who joined the war to help our country, and this took place in many different ways to help those in need like how the War Industries Board Settled conflicts between workers and factory owners, coordinated the production of war materials, and the Homefront and this was where factories made suppliances help the front side of the war into battle. So there it was everything was going smoothly until the Espionage and Sedition Act was passed and this was where it made it illegal to aid the enemy, give false reports, or interfere with war effort and also made it illegal to speak against the war publicly so we wanted no relationship with the other side the only thing we wanted is to end them. I could tell from all this that our country wanted to be very independent and never wanted anybody speaking up or help the other side but that was different when Schenck went up against the United States and we didn't handle it so kindly this was where A socialist named Charles Scheck distributed anti-war materials in the mail. The Supreme Court found him guilty of posing a clear and present danger during wartime. Another thing that helped us in the war was when the civilians were actually loaning them money for supplies crazy to think right this was called war bonds.
