Summary:
The Haitian Revolution  was a slave revolt in the French colony of Saint-Dominique. They revolted because of the French Enlightenment and also because of social/racial inequality. They were under Spanish rule later to be under the French rule. In 1788-1790 the French revolution happen. The slaves see this as a opportunity because the French are week. The shortly revolt in 1791 to get there rights back.
