The padlet is designed to help school counselors, administrators, and faculty in Texas take preventative measures and implement interventions in order to help students who are facing issues relating to domestic violence.
Merriam-Webster (2020) defines domestic violence as “violent or abusive behavior directed by one family or household member against another.” The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (n.d.) notes that domestic violence includes “physical, sexual, emotional, economic, or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person” (p. 2). It is important that school counselors work to enable all staff to recognize signs of domestic violence and are equipped to offer effective support for students facing this issue. The reasoning of choosing this topic is to learn the legality and process of how to best support students who are facing the issue domestic violence. The U.S. Department of Justice, (2011) in Chapter 4 provides the “framework for developing school policies to address domestic violence".

Reference
Child Welfare Information Gateway.
