You may ask "Why not? I enjoy watching them and they enjoy performing for us, they are in good condition and are fed well, and even treated nicely!". No, you are wrong orcas and dolphins get fed gelatin, cow bones and even pig bones, disgusting! The male orca and dolphin live up to 30 years (if a good life) in enclosures and the female lives up to about between 10 to 20 years. In the wild, the male lives up to 50 years and the female lives up to 50 and 80 if possible. A reason why should stop using orcas and dolphins as entertainment is premature death. Another reason is their Tanks. And the most important reason is their unhealthy diets.

A reason why orcas and dolphins shouldn't be used as entertainment is, premature death. Some orcas die at the age of 14 years old. In January 2019,Kayla died. She was a 30 year-old orca living at Sea World Orlando. If she'd likely lived to her 50s, and possibly as old as 80. Still, Kayla lived longer than any captive-born orca in history. Most orcas are still born or died in utero. This information was from National Geographic "Ocras don't do well in captivity. Here's why.". SeaWorld in particular has an appalling premature death rate— most orcas there die before they reach 20. This year alone, the public display of orcas at SeaWorld has caused four deaths in the last four months. (The fourth was Taima's stillborn calf.)Oct 8, 2010. In 2019,At least 166 orcas have died in captivity, not including 30 miscarried or still-born calves. SeaWorld holds 20 orcas in its three parks in the United States. At least forty-nine orcas have died at SeaWorld.

Another reason why orcas and dolphins shouldn't be used as entertainment is their tanks. Orcas and dolphins chew or saw their teeth on metal bars tying to escape their tanks. To them their tanks are as tiny as bath tub. Orcas in captivity gnaw at iron bars and concrete from stress, anxiety, and boredom sometimes even breaking their teeth and resulting in painful dental drilling without anesthesia owwwww. Sea World confines orcas, who could swim up to 140 miles a day in the wild. It would take an orca more than 4,280 laps in their enclosure to swim the distance they might in the wild, this was all according to 8 reasons why Sea World is bad. It’s no wonder that in captivity, they suffer from rotting-skin infections, go insane, and have even killed trainers—what would happen to you if you were forced to live in a bathtub?

The most important reason why orcas and dolphins shouldn't be used as entertainment is their unhealthy diets. Gelatin every day, also used the their "birthday cakes" keep in mind orcas are not supposed to eat gelatin, in fact any animal should eat gelatin. Cow bones and pig bones. In captivity, orcas are unable to hunt and obtain water from their prey, so Sea World gives them gelatin, a substance that's not natural for them, in an attempt to keep them hydrated. Tilikum (an orca) who weighs 12,000 lbs, alone consumes 83 pounds of gelatin per day. They feed on live prey, as they are hunters, not scavengers. In Sea World parks, orcas are fed frozen-thawed fish and generally eat the same meal every day with little to no variation..

To wrap it up, stop using orcas and dolphins as entertainment this is my own personal opinion. I interviewed Rania, a global language teacher, who works at ISG Dammam. Here is what she said "animals shouldn't be used for money or for people's entertainment. We pay money to see these animals forced to perform shows, just for our own entertainment". This proves that we all should stop using orcas and dolphins as entertainment. Here are the links I used for all the information I gave you today https://www.seaworldofhurt.com/features/8-reasons-orcas-dont-belong-seaworld/, https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/2019/03/orcas-captivity-welfare/. And some videos that you can watch to understand the topic better, https://youtu.be/5B_poyjBqYE and https://youtu.be/sx8MQrdinTU.
