         <description><![CDATA[<p>Opening Draft - </p><p>Hi everyone. Today we will be discussing the capabilities of Khan Academy and how we can use it to move our work forward with students and families. As you know, we are entering Year 1 of Two Rivers, in which, this is the first year that we are implementing our 3 year Strategic Plan. In our Strategic plan, Two Rivers has envisioned a pathway to becoming data-driven, which lives within our Goal 1, which is to “Accelerate academic growth and achievement for all Two Rivers scholars through high-quality instruction”. By becoming a data-driven entity, we can further better support our students and families by demonstrating a sense of progress and achievement. I know that by the end of this session today, you will be able to use Khan Academy to collect data and utilize it to better your approaches for students, but also allow students to take control of their own learning.</p><p><br></p><p>Now, I know for me, that data collection can seem like a daunting task, and we may have emotions evolving around the process of collecting data and/or the reflection stage after. I want you to envision a time where you may have felt that you lacked the tools to efficiently collect data and perhaps you had to come up with your own form of data collection. Ask yourself how might that use of data collection exhibited a positive emotion out of not only your students, but perhaps yourself and families. Take 2 mins of quiet think time to process your thoughts. After our 2 mins of quiet think time, share with your elbow partners and I will bring us back together to share a few of our thoughts and conversations you may have had with your peers.</p><p><br>Initial Purpose Statement - </p><p>To supply a tool for fellow educators to collect data for their students.</p><p><br></p><p>Final Purpose Statement -</p><p>To become a data-driven entity, we are providing potential data tools for educators to add to their toolkit. By utilizing similar tools across subject matters, content teams can come together to better support students’ learning.</p><p><br>Revised Purpose Statement (help from Vanessa :) ) -</p><p>To shift the power-center of learning by giving students ready access to data in order to create a culture where students have control over their own learning.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Potential Agenda -</p><p>Transition</p><p>Opening: Greeting &amp; Share (Musical Chairs)</p><p>Problem(s): How to collect data with KA and display to students</p><p>Solution: Sharing ways to display data and how to use the data</p><p>Practice: choices (Explore KA, discussion around using the data from KA, creating a display for data/using data)</p><p>Follow up/next steps -</p><p>Showing students how to access data from KA </p>]]></description>
