I want to start: making space for emotions and the core emotions tool when we bring up data because many people have fears and trauma from previous school around this.

I want to stop: pushing through agendas and have a way of being that feels urgent and anxious in those spaces

I want to continue: emphasizing the why but being even more intentional in building it into my design

Hi everyone. Today we will be discussing the capabilities of Khan Academy and how we can use it to move our work forward with students and families. As you know, we are entering Year 1 of Two Rivers, in which, this is the first year that we are implementing our 3 year Strategic Plan. In our Strategic plan, Two Rivers has envisioned a pathway to becoming data-driven, which lives within our Goal 1, which is to “Accelerate academic growth and achievement for all Two Rivers scholars through high-quality instruction”. By becoming a data-driven entity, we can further better support our students and families by demonstrating a sense of progress and achievement. I know that by the end of this session today, you will be able to use Khan Academy to collect data and utilize it to better your approaches for students, but also allow students to take control of their own learning.

Now, I know for me, that data collection can seem like a daunting task, and we may have emotions evolving around the process of collecting data and/or the reflection stage after. I want you to envision a time where you may have felt that you lacked the tools to efficiently collect data and perhaps you had to come up with your own form of data collection. Ask yourself how might that use of data collection exhibited a positive emotion out of not only your students, but perhaps yourself and families. Take 2 mins of quiet think time to process your thoughts. After our 2 mins of quiet think time, share with your elbow partners and I will bring us back together to share a few of our thoughts and conversations you may have had with your peers.

Initial Purpose Statement -

To supply a tool for fellow educators to collect data for their students.

Final Purpose Statement -

To become a data-driven entity, we are providing potential data tools for educators to add to their toolkit. By utilizing similar tools across subject matters, content teams can come together to better support students’ learning.

Final Purpose Statement: To provide teachers with a comprehensive understanding of a Tier 1 Social emotional framework and educate/provide teachers with Tier 1 interventions/strategies and system of support.

Dr. Andrew's Final Purpose Statement

Behavior Management is extremely important and should be implemented within our Two Rivers Public Charter School. The purpose of behavior management is to prevent or stop misbehavior. With a strategic plan in place we will be able to promote positive classroom behavior and discourage demeaning and unfair acts among our Crews.
