         <title>As a retired teacher who has to do required T&amp;D I am looking for cheap or free courses. I do not usually have a problem with prerequisites. Naturally the courses have to fit the academic prerequisites of my department.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I'm interested in gaining learning experience in the open learning environment. It sure looks like there are a lot of great options for courses from credible institutions. I'm not sure that I fully understand the distinction between closed and open learning environments. It looks like there is a lot of grey area on this topic. I think it would be fun to take "big question" topics in an open environment. Maybe topics like Civility, Climate and Environment, History and Culture for international countries. <br>I think that online education will be very appealing to a variety of learners. <br>I wonder how MOOC learners will share their training on their resumes &amp; interviews. <br><br></div>]]></description>

Once I believe that I effectively handled these courses, I will attempt a paid  online course.  Although I have done an online course that had a cost attached, my employers are the ones that paid.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are certainly factors to consider when deciding if a specific course is for me. Cost may be one. What do I intend to achieve from taking the course?&nbsp;<br>I looked into a class a couple of years back, and it required specific computer software that I did not have, and it was only available for purchase. My intent from the course was for faculty development, and I did not find it worth the cost of the software. I decided to take a different class that had less access restrictions. I would have like to have taken that class.<br>I look at classes like purchasing any product; a higher price does not necessarily mean higher quality.&nbsp;<br>I feel that students new to computing tend to have a more challenging time. Learning to use the device, and learning content is a lot at once. It slows down the learning, and can be frustrating. </div>]]></description>

         <title>I have found teaching online courses in the past that requiring students to log into an online learning system like Canvas for example can sometimes be a barrier. This becomes a further problem if I ask them to use a website like YouTube (for example) to create a video to post on the course website. Like most barriers, they can be overcome, however I have heard some students complain about requiring multiple passwords to multiple sites just to take a course online.  Also, since many of my students liked to complete their work on their phones, they also disliked having to open multiple windows to complete work.</title>
