For this project, I have decided to go along with the Healthcare industry as I have a major liking for it and its intercross with artificial intelligence is on a severe uprising. The healthcare industry is something I have been looking forward to being a part of ever since I was younger. My intentional major coming into Stony Brook was Biology because I was intrigued by seeing how surgeons, nurses, doctors, etc, and seeing how they all work together to heal patients and give them the best care provided. That intrigued me and I wanted to learn more. Choosing this industry allows me to further advance my patient care in the future. I believe these two different sections will be able to create such amazing things for medical care and hone in on making advancements. The slow rise of medical imaging along with diagnosis will soar as it will detect diseases with higher accuracy than most human eyes could catch! Things like Drug Discovery can become more effective as it can identify potential drug candidates and can develop them at a much faster rate. On this pallet wall, you will see multiple different sectors of how AI and the healthcare industry intersect! It will go in-depth into the usage and how it can positively and or negatively affect the healthcare industry, we will discover new trends we see in the healthcare spectrum with AI advancement then lastly we will take a look into the Impact these two together have made!

EXAMPLE ONE: AI Medical Imaging & Deep Learning

Description: An example that I have below is AI for Early Disease Detection. This is where we use AI-generated Medical Imaging like X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans to scan one's potential injuries for possible diagnoses. These scans are the guts behind diagnosing all patients being able to see everything inside and out. With this, you can diagnose things such as cancer, Alzheimer's, cardiovascular conditions, and much more by looking through these scanned images. These are the basis of the first big improvement of Artificial intelligence as it has become the most important thing in Healthcare. They use algorithms in the database to find abnormalities in the imaging to detect diagnoses, from there doctors can determine treatments!

Reflection: I found this very interesting because you would think that these machines are not really a part of AI but they fully are. I found this especially interesting since we go to the school that created the very first MRI machine so seeing where it started is amazing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uuj4Ivh-S9w&t=9s

Future Trends and Ethical Considerations

Artificial intelligence has made up so many inventions and developments for the healthcare system to better itself and there are so many more to come! AI has come a very long way from its original start, for it to come so far and begin to make a crucial impact on health care, just shows how its advanced technologies expand significantly. Medical precision is a major trend in which artificial intelligence evaluates environmental and genetic data to develop individualized treatment regimens. In particular, this method enhances the management of rare genetic illnesses, diabetes, and cancer. The use of artificial intelligence in robotically assisted surgery is another significant advancement. AI-driven surgical robots will increase accuracy and decrease human error, making challenging treatments far less disruptive and safer. Furthermore, chatbots and virtual health assistants will help patients and offer advice on mental health, increasing access to healthcare. Through wearable monitors and smart sensors, AI will also make it possible to detect diseases early. To cut expenses and mistakes, hospitals will employ AI to simplify processes, manage patient scheduling, organize resources, and handle administrative tasks. However, tackling challenges like algorithmic bias and data privacy is important for the future of AI in healthcare. Creating fairness and transparency in the healthcare system is going to depend on ethical AI development and regulatory compliance. AI can better patient outcomes worldwide and make healthcare more affordable and readily available as it develops. Ethical considerations come into play when we ensure fair, safe, and effective use of AI. From the patient privacy that we have mentioned before, Ai's creator must make sure to use safe and protected algorithms to protect patient data and medical records. Furthermore, it must focus on Bias and fairness, Not everybody every race and gender has the same anatomy so we must make sure these databases are trained for everyone and anyone. Making sure the ethical piece behind AI in Healthcare is covered.

With all being said, As you see here Ai is making strides in this industry further causing my bias toward AI to flip. I have looked at it negatively before but now I see the positive it has to offer causing me to want to look into it more!

Artificial intelligence in the Healthcare Industry is something very profound and highly underlooked. Although the influence it has on patient care and medical care as a whole has been substantial. To start, AI has been a major power for society as it has increased access to Healthcare in general. Something just as small as a little AI-generated chatbot on a medical website can save a human's life. It will be able to thoroughly ask questions and ask for symptoms, giving the patient as much help as they need and recommending further care options like a hospital and such. This helps enable healthcare to struggling communities who need it truly the most! Next, similarly to availability, it has given Healthcare a chance to lower Healthcare costs and given society a better and fair shot at receiving healthcare. The AI system can generate tasks, hand out controlled treatment plans, and reduce hospital readmissions giving billions of dollars back to citizens annually! Something so little as AI detecting a High Risk of Readmission after a harsh surgery or tough diagnosis can save the government and society money. Though it is doing amazing things on the physical side it can also have its downsides when it comes too. It has a dual impact on employment in healthcare because one side is where they can cause job reduction and job automation causing many to lose their spot in a hospital or healthcare facility because they can do it faster and more efficiently yet on the other hand it can give them a helping hand. AI can offer assistance in healthcare where it can help humans produce results efficiently. They must be seen as a help and not a threat to their job. Now as to privacy, there is more risk for patient data to get released or cracked into when AI gets involved. However, with recent events, they have changed it to where Regulatory compliance has been added and it is there to help protect patient files and such leaving less room for leaks or breaches. Now furthering ito Equity piece of the combined sectors, While it gives challenges like Healthcare inequality for those who struggle to get the care they need or even afford, AI can also help to that cause by allowing and expanding to global areas through the online world and help low-income areas even get simple care from an AI bot like we mentioned earlier!

As I see it Artificial Intelligence has a huge impact on healthcare in the best way, though there is room for improvement in some areas, it statically shows the great change it has made in patient care and treatment! Which in my book is very beneficial and something that should stay around!

Throughout my research, I found it difficult to get in-depth answers as I tend to understand these concepts. Luckily though healthcare is a big industry with lots to learn and relate from. I learned lots more about what I could do with Artificial Intelligence in this industry Plus as I mentioned before I am interested in going into this field so grabbing a good grasp of this can help me implement it when it's my turn to use it in the hospital. A major challenge I faced while doing this was finding examples of the improvement AI has done for healthcare. Finding visuals that can show the impact. After a bit of searching through various sites and other resources, I was set! I believe overall AI is on the rise and while it has its faults I believe the positives outweigh them. I see them as something influential and inspiring so I believe AI in the HEalthcare industry is everything and more!

EXAMPLE TWO: AI in Personalized Medicine

Description: AI in personalized medicine takes genetics and predictive analytics tailored toward treatments to patients and the characteristics they contain. Artificial Intelligence analyzes the genomic data, detects the genetic mutation, and then shortly after links it to diseases and provides personalized treatment for the patient, An example of this is IBM Watson for Oncology, which these used to predict cancer progression and recommend treatment for certain cases. They again tailor it to certain genetics. The benefits to using Artificial intelligence in this direction can really efficiently help diagnose and treat a lot faster and catch something so small a human couldn't see!

Reflection: I think this AI use is one of the most important developments, I find it interesting because it personalizes it to the patient's certain genes giving them a direct treatment plan which is amazing because what works for one person might not for the other.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNAlol8HWWc

EXAMPLE THREE:AI-Powered Virtual Assistants (Natural Language Processing & Telemedicine)

Description: The last example we have here is an AI-powered virtual assistant. Using Natural Language processing and telemedicine we are able to save and treat so many lives. I mentioned these earlier as one of the best things to exist because not only is it providing care but it is free and accessible allowing everyone to use it safely and freely. This method takes AI-driven chatbots and provides remote health and symptom consultations to patients. With that is follow-up treatment plans and or directives to heal patients. An example of the is Babylon Health AI on their website they offer real-time symptom consultation and allow patients to check their symptoms through a virtual system.

Reflection: This to me is a very important creation as it is used by many other low-income areas and those who struggle to reach the hospital so something like this is amazing to have around. It can save millions and that is the best part about it. It makes a tremendous impact and it will become a big thing soon if it has yet to be.
