       The system of Checks and Balances was used to make sure that no single branch would have more authority than the others. 
       The question of a new state representation in the national legislature was posed. The government solved the disagreement between small and big states with the Connecticut Compromise. The compromise proposed a bicameral legislature with proportional representation of the states in the lower house and equal representation in the upper house.
     Slavery was a controversial topic. Northern states wanted to outlaw slavery, while southern states thought it was an individual states problem.
