         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Connecticut Compromise-proposed a bicameral legislature that has proportional representation which gave the lower house equal representation to the upper house<br>the compromise of 1788- Many other states opposed the plans of the new constitution because it lacked basic political rights to the states and people such as freedom of speech, religion and press. This compromise guaranteed amendments to be made immediately after the ratification of the constitution.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; developing a plan establishing three branches of national government: <strong>executive, legislative and judicial</strong>.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The system of <strong>Checks and Balances</strong> was used to make sure that <strong>no single branch would have more authority</strong> than the others.&nbsp; <br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The question of a<strong> new state representation in the national legislature</strong> was posed. The government solved the disagreement between small and big states with the Connecticut Compromise. The compromise proposed a<strong> bicameral legislature</strong> with proportional representation of the states in the lower house and equal representation in the upper house.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; <strong>&nbsp;Slavery</strong> was a <strong>controversial </strong>topic. Northern states wanted to outlaw slavery, while southern states thought it was an individual states problem. North thought South wouldn't join the Union so they could keep slavery.</div>]]></description>
