2) A possible message that this map might be trying to convey is that, while something could belong to a culture, we can still learn from it and make variations of our own. Basically, we shouldn’t have to gatekeep our customs. I once tried gatekeeping a Taylor Swift song but then it blew up on tiktok and I cried- I have now learned to accept it. First of all, I want to clarify that baozi is not a type of dumplings it's actually a completely different dish than that. Baozi is normally served with a very thick crust and teh insides can vary according to your needs. Xiaolongbao on the other hand has a very thin crust. I normally eat baozi for breakfast on some days, sometimes, my family and I would go to buy xiaolongbao in shops. 
2) I think this map can indicate that a type of food, dumplings, can vary from culture to culture. Since I grew up in Singapore and have only stayed in china for a year or so, I don’t really have a strong connection to eating dumplings. (and to my knowledge, there probably aren’t any dumplings that originated from Singapore) I do however have eaten the dumpling “Thung Thong” (which according to the map) originated from Thailand. When I was first introduced to this dumpling, I was taught that it was called a “Money bag” by my grandmother. And similar to the name I was taught, according to my grandmother, if you ate one, your riches might be multiplied or you might gain some. 
2. I think this map shows us that even though they’re all dumplings, each country has their own version of it and they all look and taste different. 2. This dish is of Malay cuisine and brings comfort to my family, especially since we moved to China. This dish means a lot to my mother compared to the rest of us. My mother is from a Malay background and I think moving here was the hardest for her as she would need to adapt to everything and learn Chinese in order to do simple things. (for example. Grocery shopping) Another reason of why I think this dish is important to her is because it reminds her of her parents and possibly culture.
3. This dish reminds me a lot of Hari Raya, as this dish is mainly cooked in events like that or other special occasions. I would recall seeing the same dish every year and at majority of the houses we visit during Hari Raya visiting. I visit my family in Germany nearly every year for Christmas, but as of now, it’s not possible because of the pandemic. My dad has two brothers whom each have four children, so when I celebrate Christmas I always celebrate the 24th in one of the brother’s house and the 25th in the others, on every of those two days we all gather together to eat Raclette. It has buttery, melted cheese on baked potatoes and meat, I drink grape juice with it because I can’t have wine. 
2. All of my dads brothers love to cook, so if they celebrate Christmas with my family then they all own a Raclette stove. There is no event that it’s originated from, it’s just a great activity that is great to gather the family together.

Even though I do sometimes eat this dish in China, it never tastes the same as in Germany, this is because I will never experience the feeling of arriving at my cousins doorstep on a cold, foggy winter night for Christmas and stepping in to the smell of warm, melted cheese, and seeing the whole table decorated with food and candles here in China.
