Martin Luther king Jr. was a baptist priest that started out with 13 members and made it into a strong congregation. we was a well spoken man that believed whites and blacks could live together. After Rosa parks was arrested for not giving up her seat MLK and other NAACP leaders joined together and planned the boycott which made the bus system loose money. One of the many times MLK took a stand against racism he was put into Birmingham hand jail where he wrote letters to other leaders saying that the only way to win is for them to fight for their rights peacefully. the most famous this MLK did was his I Have a Dream speech held in Washington where many blacks peacefully marched to Washington and peacefully stated that whites and blacks can live together and must live together

Contributions:

Organization of Afro-American Unity: Founded by Malcolm X in 1964, this civil rights organization focused on promoting African unity, international cooperation, and economic development. The main goal of the OAAU was to fight for human rights rather than civil rights.

Public rejection of the civil rights movement: Malcolm X publicly spoke about his negative feelings toward the civil rights movement. He believed in the complete separation of blacks and whites rather than the idea of racial integration promoted by the civil rights movement.

Publicly challenging Martin Luther King Jr.: Malcolm X took to the press, Muslim Mosques, and Universities to voice his opinions on Civil Rights. He opposed MLK's notions of integration and nonviolent protests. He encouraged his supporters to participate in violent protests stating that they should defend themselves "by any means necessary".

Black Power Movement: After Malcolm X's assassination, the Black Power Movement began (1960's-70's). It was a movement that advocated for black supremacy and racial pride. The movement was based on Malcolm X's beliefs from his auto-biography. Because of this, the movement was labeled as violent.

The Black Panther Party: Founded in 1966 by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, this political organization set out to challenge police brutality against the black community. Black Panthers would dress in all black and roam the streets armed and ready to fight back. By 1968, it had over 2,000 members, but shortly declines after FBI interference.
