I have been working and living in China for nearly 15 years, working as a teacher. I have been teaching IB DP English Language B for the past semester at an international school in Beijing, but I am about to change schools. The international school I am moving to will require me to teach Language A. So, I am still very new to IB, but have learned a lot over the last half a year. 

2. What is the most pressing question you have about the Language A: language and literature course?

How is it different to Language B? In terms of expectations and how in-depth students are expected to go. I have been teaching works of literature to Chinese students and as second-language learners with somewhat high proficiency, their needs are different. 

3. How can you develop positive online professional relationships for the workshop and beyond?

I hope to get to know people through the way this workshop is presented and delivered. It appears to be a quite open, democratic forum, with a lot of discussion, ideas and is very IB-like and very student led. I doubt this will be my only workshop, so there will be opportunities to develop relationships and meet people with more experience than myself.

I wish to be:

Know how to get the best out of my students
Through learner profiles and students interests, know how to fully engage with them
