The mood might be mysterious, or scary, or cold, or peaceful. How I can tell is that the when you read the poem, it gets more mysterious and more scary, also in the last sentences of the first 3 stanzas, it gives you a cold feeling.the last stanza feels peaceful.

I think the mood of this poem is dark. I think this because, it says “The darkest evening of the year.” This tells the reader of darkness by explaining the evening in his perspective. The reader also doesn’t know who owns the woods. The poem says “The wood are lovely, dark, and deep. But I have promises to keep.” It keeps a mystery from the readers and explains the setting of the event.
