My body clock has not been functioning very well ever since the pandemic happened. And so, I ended up waking up at 8:00 am, missing half of the mass and most especially, the gospel and homily. But after attending 3 of the events for this day, I decided to watch what I missed. And these are the points of realization that I got:

Fr. Orlindo F. Ordoña, our mass presider, gave us 3 points to reflect upon during his homily. The first one is the call to authenticity. Relating it to the gospel earlier about those hypocrites who only do good deeds when other people’s eyes are feasting upon them, I realized that it doesn’t matter if we have audiences or not whenever we do things for our brothers and sisters. Simply because we don’t owe them anything. We’re not praying, fasting, and giving alms for the sake of receiving praises from them. Rather, we do all these things because this the mission that God has given us to fulfill. The second one is the deepening of relationships. During his homily, he let us ponder over the questions, “Napaparamdam ko ba ‘yung pagmamahal ko?” And I realized that, now that we are inside our homes for almost a year now, everything feels like a routine for us. If anything, we might even feel like robots who work and work without feeling anything at all. And that is wrong. Because I believe that, in everything that we do, we must put our hearts into it. We have to do it wholeheartedly because if we do not, then all these things would be meaningless. And lastly, the acceptance of time and how it works. Life indeed seems to take long, but honestly, it’s as fast as snapping fingers. You’ll never know what’s going to happen next. You’ll never know when’s the last time you’re going to spend time with your loved ones. And that is why we, people, need to seize all the moment we have. So that when the time of death comes, we will not bring any heavy regrets to our graves.

I was even thinking that they could’ve just given these 3 days for us to have a break. But I know that doing so means neglecting PCC’s annual celebration. So despite everything, a part of me is still glad that they pushed through with this. Although it isn’t the same as before, I enjoyed watching the Opening Salvo.

Watching all those talented PCCians who showcased their skills in singing, I was reminded of the usual “pasabog” during the opening, with all the colorful confetti and banderitas, and of course, the booming loud music that is heard throughout the grounds. I didn’t want to be sad so I just sang along with the familiar songs they sang. I was also surprised to see some celebrities and our respective administrators who greeted PCC for its 108th Founding Anniversary. And I appreciate all of these because I could see how much they wanted for us, students, to feel the spirit of this year’s celebration. It may not be the same but at least, we’ve got something to look forward to for the following days.

If there’s any game that I was able to play, it would’ve just been Temple Run, Subways Surfers, and Talking Tom. All of these games were just easy to play, unlike ML. I guess I just don’t have the patience to learn and master all the skills that I have to know if I decided to play ML.
 
I was honestly lost when I was watching the Facebook live. They keep on mentioning things that I couldn’t grasp. I didn’t even know which team was winning during the game. All I could understand was that they have to defend their territories. A lot of things have been prohibited because of the sudden outbreak of Covid-19. And one of which is mass gatherings. But despite everything, our identity as a Catholic Institution still prevailed. For me, the Online Ash Wednesday Holy Mass was the one that highlighted this legacy. Simply because, like what I’ve said, despite everything that has happened, we, Catholics, still find it in our hearts to celebrate and pay respect to our traditions. Even if mass gatherings are limited, we were still able to push through Ash Wednesday. Simply because I believe that if we don’t cherish our school we wouldn’t have allotted our time just to attend these events. Another one would be the celebration itself amidst the pandemic. And we, students, still made time to attend these events. AS A SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, WHAT ARE THE THINGS TO LOVE ABOUT PCC? pangan_denisejulianne https://padlet.com/pangan_denisejulianne/1a3dsfe40ahilwiq/wish/1213674300 I have been studying in this little acre of grace for almost 10 years now. And my journey throughout those years wasn’t smooth-sailing. I was excelling in my previous school but when I transferred here, the shock brought by the new environment chained me to my feet. And so, I ended up struggling during my first few years. But when I reached High School, surprisingly, I was able to slowly redeem myself.

PCC serves as a reminder for me that in every failure, there is always a chance for you to redeem whatever it is that you lost. There is always a chance for you to let yourself grow. And this is what I love about PCC. Because in this little acre of grace, I did not only experience the disappointment of failure; I was also able to experience the satisfaction of success. And I will always be thankful for my journey here in PCC because it helped me become who I am today.

Well, in my case, whenever I hear my PE teacher say, “O, magsisimula na ang practice ninyo para sa ground demo,” I know that sooner or later, I would see bit and pieces of metal scattered on the grounds as I make my way towards my classroom. I would see colorful banderitas crisscrossing the skies, different ice cream and fast food booths that I don’t usually see, and the tents where underneath, children were checking out little abubots. These things always excite me because I would feel the spirit of celebration coming from it even if it hasn’t even started yet. But…how would I know if Foundation Week is near while being stuck in a pandemic?

Honestly speaking, I didn’t feel it. Maybe because all of us have felt like robots already because of being quarantined for almost a year now, going on everyday life, doing the same routine over and over again. A part of me even wanted to ditch the scheduled events so I could just lie on my bed all day, treat the celebration like a 3-day vacation. But no, I wasn’t able to that. Instead, I forced myself to wake up as early as 9:00 am to open my laptop and wait as I get accepted in the Zoom meeting room. 

And believe me when I say that I was glad that I didn’t choose to be lazy. Because, even if it wasn’t as grand as it used to be, I still had a good time seeing those familiar faces during Eucharistic Celebrations and watching my fellow PCCians showcase their skills and talents. Even if it wasn’t as grand as it used to be, I still appreciated all the efforts that were exerted just to make this virtual Founding Anniversary enjoyable for all of us. Simply because I realized that this situation we’re in is just like a glass-half-full and half-empty. Why? Because you only have two choices: either brood over what you lost in life or appreciate what life gave you in compensation.

The priest is seen to be surrounded by people who belong to a different race and ethnicity. But despite this, no barrier was seen as the priest delivers God’s message to us. We come from different corners of the world
And gathered as children of God

As role models of His message of love

Quite similar to my answer to the question before this, this verse was expressed during the live coverage of the Thanksgiving Mass. Fr. Rocky was in a community where people from a different race and ethnicity reside there. But this did not stop Fr. Rocky from delivering what God wants us to know from His message. He didn’t treat their differences as barriers. Rather, he treated it as if it was nothing, as if it was just thin air. Simply because, no matter what our differences are, may it be our skin, nationality, or religion; we are all God’s children who came from different parts of the world.

We are constantly experiencing anxiety and fear all because of the virus. Some of us have lost our jobs. Some of us have lost our family members. Some of us have lost time that should’ve spent with something that’s much more meaningful. And because of this, it’s inevitable for us not to ask God the question, “Why does this have to happen to us?”

But then I realized that doing so will just make us doubt God’s plan for us. It’s not wrong to ask. What’s wrong is continuously asking God “why” without even making a move to understand why these things are happening to us. And so, I can say that we can concretely express PCC’s vision amidst this pandemic by simply asking for His guidance. Through believing in His plan. Through putting our trust in Him despite the hindrances.
