I always refer to myself as educationally lucky. Growing up as the child with a father in the military, I was lucky enough to attend 13 different schools; 6 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 4 high schools. I consider this luck because I knew at an early age I wanted to teach, and what better way to experience the many facets of education than through numerous teachers and educational setting? I had some of the finest teachers that the 1980s and 1990s had to offer! Apart from learning all I needed to know about the Oregon Trail from the most amazing educational software those decades had to offer, I was able to experience diverse teaching styles, teaching techniques, and classroom management methods.

I am hopeful that this class enables me to better utilize effective and age-appropriate technology in my classroom. This is my first year as a 2nd grade teacher, I have only previously taught kindergarten and feel as if I could be using more technology.

Professionally, technology is used often in my 2nd grade classroom. SPS has supplied my classroom with 10 iPads to use for content and curriculum. We use the iPads during math and reader's workshop for educational games as well as Dreambox and Lexia (district required learning tools). My teaching partner and I incorporate the iPads into our Project Based Learning units for students to read on Pebble Go and present material to the class.
Personally, I do not have much to do with technology but I am working on it!! I do have facebook and snap chat but nothing else. I really do want to have a better understanding of technology so I can better implement it n my classroom.
