The deaths of Florence and Lupito cause Antonio to question the church and he questions why God would do such a thing to those people. After seeing their deaths take place Antonio begins to build the opinion that God is not fair to everyone and sometimes his actions are unjustified. When he asks God for answers and he does not answer Antonio becomes upset with God and believes that he shouldn't become a priest if he can't have a good relationship with God.
