If you are not comfortable attaching your real name to your post, please use your code name. en-us 2020-04-14 14:12:58 UTC 2020-04-21 18:31:24 UTC hello@padlet.com https://padlet.net/icons/png/1f50d.png maya_staresinic1 https://padlet.com/maya_staresinic1/19u4aymm6giiksdc/wish/506482425 2020-04-14 14:17:49 UTC https://padlet.com/maya_staresinic1/19u4aymm6giiksdc/wish/506482425 https://padlet.com/maya_staresinic1/19u4aymm6giiksdc/wish/508401859 based on johnny smith's story, i think it was every soldiers problem. they knew what they were getting into but not in full details. rather then requesting to join the army they should of just stayed home with there family, especially johnny smith because he had a wife who was left with a 1 year old baby. i do think that the soldiers should not of suffered with being jobless. i do not think is was very nice that after all the work that the soldiers did and some died for that they returned home with no repayments and had to get back onto there feet to provide for there family again. on top of that they have not seen there family for 4 years and they had to go home like they were not just gone for 4 years and they can't really spend time with them because there busy working again. it was not just 1 person in specific, it was the whole army. they all made the mistake and they all fell down together. some found jobs faster while others didn't. i think that it was sad that the soldiers would rather go to war risking there lives then stay and support there family. what was the worse of all was that they came home feeling like they immigrated because so much changed.

I don’t think that you can pin point it on one person because in the text it said that all of the soldiers were waiting to go home to family and friends, but the Government Officials quickly ended that dream by putting them all in camps in England for month upon months just filling out forms.

Instead of letting them go back to their families they instead make them go to camps just to fill out forms and nothing more.  It's the government officials fault because the soldiers deserved better, to return to their families after surviving something they luckily made out of, which was a war. I feel like since they fought for the country and made it out alive, they could go back to their families and be set free. The soldiers shouldn't be blamed for because they didn't expect to go through 4 years of carnage, the government officials planned their future and ruined it for them abruptly.   All the soldiers wanted was a safe return to their homes, a job, and to reunite with their family that they most definitely missed a lot.

From the time they started to return to Canada from France, until they finally returned home, it was a difficult time. In Johnny Smiths story he explains the camps he attended on his ilongated trip to finally return to his family after two years in the trenches. He completed many forms until he was finally able to reach his family. Johnny was relieved but didnt realize the future struggles he was about to face. Not only did he have to go straight to work but he wasn't able to do so because he had no job to aquire. Personally, I think this was the Governments wrong doing for every struggle the soldiers had. They knew the soldiers were coming home, they had months to put some kind of financial support together, to help the influx of men who would be coming home looking for work. Not only financial support but emotional support, as a lot of these young men, were emotionally scarred by the horrors of what they had to do and what they witnessed. The Government really dropped the ball at this point in history and let a lot of families suffer due to their lack of support.

I dont think you can blame just one person because it was the government officials, a group of people who changed things on them. I do think the soldiers deserved better, to come home right away to thier families instead of being brought to a camp to fill out many forms, since they have served and done so much and are lucky to even be alive to go back to thier families. They also should've been able to come home to jobs and not have been blamed and gone through everything the government put them through. All the soldiers expected was a safe return home but that idea wasn't it.
