Staff Briefing June 2022: we first came together as RSD, as a team and what that involves. For me exciting times as January to June (and really from Oct. 2021 via online meetings) I’d been in conversations on the redesign for Research Services and it was so exciting to see if come to fruition. I still recall arriving in Glasgow and how excited I was to be working with such an amazing group of people that had such passion, creativity and excitement for how things could be and a willingness to try new things. Missing from the RSD directorate image is acknowledgment of the importance of the central support team to make so much happen.

A huge thanks to Bry for working so hard to establish such a solid structure and embed a team ethos to RSD. We've grown and developed so much in the past two years. I need to shout out our amazing research comms team as a reflection of the strength of that RSD foundation -- in this past year alone, Laura's team has stepped up to the Scotland Beyond Net Zero challenge (with little notice or brief), delivered the Glasgow Changing Futures launch/messaging to the University community, created continuous engaging content such as Spotlight on Research, taught us all where we could improve our web presence, and generally provided depth, breadth and direction in this area of support.

Shout out to Amanda McKenna for so expertly managing the (fortunately few, but still time-consuming) research misconduct cases we get - each one has its challenges but she has steered them all efficiently and expertly through the process, ensuring that each one gets considered thoroughly and carefully, liaising with other services and the Colleges (appreciating the additional complexity that brings!)

Research Policy Review Project

The Research Policy Review Project carried out by Kerry Revel and Caitlin Diver is transforming how the University's research-related policies are presented and maintained. All policies are now located on a dedicated 'Research Policies' webpage. We have developed a standard template, web layout and guidance as well as a version control system and monitoring process. All of these elements are being successfully rolled out in partnership with policy owners across the University.

I joined RC+RD from a previous role that had put me in tears in a colleagues office due to the pressure and lack of appreciation for work that kept the place going.

What a difference in this team and RSD as a whole! I feel so lucky to work with supportive colleagues and management that cares for it's team!

I've loved all the projects I've been involved in and can't wait to work with everyone more!!

One thing I adore about RCRD is that there is this sweet peer/colleague pressure and exemplary role modeling from our leaders and managers that makes you do more in your own line of duties but also to help out others and contribute to the overall team effort!
